I've been re-reading Tintin. He is a bad-ass, whether with a pistol, his fists, or constructing A-Team style machines.

Not quite a political cartoon, but about as intelligible as Day By Day, this was posted by a Facebook friend of mine:

I'm just dumbfounded by this. I don't even know what political axe they're trying to grind.

Because it was 40 years and a few dozen school massacres ago? You don't have to go back that far?
Because the massacre did lead to actual changes unlike any of the last shootings?
Because FOX News wasn't around back then to blame the victims for not being prepared to shot back?
Because the Kent State massacre DID lead to better gun control measures (specifically actually giving riot control non-lethal means of crowd dispersal)?

I'm guessing the point is someone felt moved by either a Kent State documentary or CSNY and expressed the resulting political profundity in the form of an image macro. A Good Commentary On Our Times.

Well done, liberal media. Keep telling us about this so-called "Kent State massacre". Look, I'm no political genius but even I can see that there is no state named Kent in these United States. In fact, there never was a Kent State. There is a California State! And a New York State! And even an Illinois State! You liberals should know this since these are your homebases of you gay agenda. But there is no Kent State.

Why do liberals keep lying to America? Isn't it enough that they took God out of schools? Now they're making up states. They need to do a little bit of their beloved "fact checking" in themselves I think, ho ho ho! Don't fall for the lie, friends.

Obama is white? I get the face paint, but his arms? really?

Conservative cartoonists make it a habit to either draw Obama as white as they think they can get away with, or alternately amplify his perceived non-white characteristics to cartoonish levels - like the giant purple lips that several insist on giving him, frequently larger than his head. Both ways strike me as bigoted at best, racist at worst, but your mileage may vary.

Needs to have "Politcal cartoons" or at least "cartoons" in the title, so the casual reader knows what is going on. Don't want to crawl completely up our own fundament with in jokes

To be fair, the white makeup is a feature of Kabuki. If the cartoonist is using that in order to get away with a more subtle point, that's another matter entirely.

If he weren't repeating himself and Ramirez and stupid and several other etcs, it'd really not be a bad cartoon from the perspective of someone who liked right wing humour and wanted an image of their disdainful Presidential hate-figure. Considering the number of other colours Obama has been drawn as by (particularly right wing) cartoonists, some vaguely human shade of beige is pretty unremarkable.

Not too surprising. Monte Wolverton is best known for his work in MAD. He's the son of Basil Wolverton, most famous for drawing this.

I thought it looked a bit but not quite like a Wolverton, but had forgotten that the one I knew was Basil. And not a political cartoonist.
