To the guy in the black Accord heading towards Ottawa on the 174 this morning - forcing me and the twelve guys behind me to pass you on the right is not cool. It's nice that you're not in a hurry, but next time stay in the slow lane.

    Quick check:

    1. Is every song on the radio right now the longest song you've ever heard?

    2. Is every song also the best song you've ever heard?

If you answered "Yes" to either of these questions, you may be stoned. If you answered "Yes" to both of these questions, you need to share.

I just learned that I can very easily emulate the voice of Tristan from "Yu-Gi-Oh The Abridged Series" done by Little Kuriboh. I haven't watched it in aaaaaaaages, but out of nowhere I heard the voice.
And I realised it was me.
Me, a 21-year-old female, sounded like this:

Why do we have to choose between cake and pie?

And why do we need whole entire threads dedicated to debating the merits of each?

Seriously, Internet, don't we have better things to discuss?

The more troubling aspect is that there are four different threads about it.

  15. MulMizu Sassy Black Woman

    hey man, i stopped.
And while it is kind of ridiculous for there to be four threads on it, it should be okay to talk about which people like more. Unless you would like a thread that's completely unrelated to be filled to the brim with "NO PIE HAS FILLING" "WELL CAKE IS AMAZING", causing headaches for people that don't give a fuck about pie or cake. :T

so this has to be spoilered whoops

Okay, after an hour and a half of tests and x-rays and four hours of waiting around, the conclusion is "there's nothing visibly wrong with you, so take this Vicodin and call us if it gets worse." Between the brain factions of Scared, In Pain, Depressed, and Annoyed As Hell, the last one is currently winning, with Pain a close second.

Also, got a call from the fertility clinic, finally. "Oh, we have no idea what could have gone wrong, your ultrasound looked totally fine! Please keep us updated! Do you still want to become a donor?" Well, no, not if it's going to leave me largely unable to sit up for days on end! Pfah! <throws hands up in air, rolls over, attempts to pass out>

The sequel to Thoughts On Hair, conclusion to the epic saga:
Mother dearest also suggested mixing black tea into the mehndi. It smells absolutely disgusting; slightly less so after shampooing and drying my hair, but still undesirable.
It was after doing this and starting to apply the mixture that she thought it was a good time to tell me she has never actually done this, only gotten it done in a salon. 30 years ago.

It sort of worked; I have hair that's nearly black anyway, so it only gave me a slightly more brownish tinge in certain light (which is what I was going for, and it will probably be more noticeable after a second application). This was somewhat surprising considering the stain it left on the rubber gloves and comb we used. I'm not really sure it was worth it, though, and I don't know how people can stand dying their hair regularly.

In the end, my verdict: 10/10 if you just want to use a natural conditioner, or if you have dark hair and want a slight change that only you will ever notice in its colour. Or if you have lighter hair and actually want to dye it. Do not attempt if you don't want your hair to smell bad for a few hours or if you need boxes with lots of instructions ("Mix appropriate amount with water and apply.").

So I learned that I am a little afraid of growing my nails out anymore.
Relatively recently, I learned that I really, really really do not like the feeling of my nails scratching dishes. Found that out by trying to scratch off something left on a washed pot. Just thinking about it gives me an uncomfortable tingling feeling deep in my brain and I have to squirm around and rub my hands.
While I like having nails a little bit longer than usual, the thought of that feeling is enough to keep me from having them that way. Sucks.

My mother used to dye her hair with 'henna'. And by that I mean she made me do it for her. Your post made me go "oh the memories" and remember that I used to hate the substance and smell of it.

And I dye my hair regularly, the answer is to have short(er) hair. I've found that this option solved most of my hair problems (even though I'm probably going to grow it out this year).

    Quick etiquette question.

I'm dealing with a customer in Russia whose emails all just say Владимирович. His email address is just his initials @ his company. I feel like addressing an email to him with Владимирович would be pandering, since I obviously don't speak Russian. Is it overly familiar to address the email to Vladimirovich, which is a transliteration of Владимирович?

Edit: Now that I think of it, despite the order in which he's writing his name isn't Vladimirovich just an indicator that his dad was Vladimir? He's giving Никита as his middle name, but it's Nikita, so that feels like a first name.

I'm listening to a live TED talk about what I do for a living. It's pretty dull, much like the backside of internet. Also he's slobbing some seriously unjustified knob.

The individuals behind the curtain behind the individual behind the curtain spend more of their time dicking around in the support channel than actually working.
