No and no. In lieu of a proper solution, I recommend finding a way to get it out to the world and infecting everyone else.

I won't be around tonight, because I'll be doing a sleep study. wheeeee.

Also, I got a shitload of stuff done today, including things I normally don't function well enough to do. woohoo!

Home from sleep study. Worst night of sleep ever, mostly because of sinuses/throat/nausea problems. At least when I left there was a Dunkin Donuts down the block so I got some sugar...

I just spent a half an hour in a Wikipedia rathole reading about the Tom DeFalco-created MC2 spinoff of the Marvel Universe, starting with Spider-Girl and then continuing with his own sub-universe and man, I read a lot of that stuff and it just struck me again how incredibly dumb every aspect of it was. From DeFalco's names (X-People! A-Next! J2!) to his collaborative work with Ron Frenz creating some of the shittiest character design imaginable (look at Bluestreak or Wild Thing for some shit straight out of a mid-80s knockoff comic brand, his best character work was Spider-Girl and she's just Mark Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man with breasts and a Liefeldian obsession with bizarrely long limbs) to the family-friendly-to-the-point-of-terminal-blandness plotlines, the whole thing was a goddam disaster.

Which is why it makes me kind of sad that Spider-Girl was Marvel's first female-lead comic book to reach 100 issues. It's like Alan Scott being gay. They couldn't have done this with something that wasn't awful? Something that was in the mainline Marvel universe?

OH WELL! CLIMBING OUT OF THE RATHOLE AND GETTING BACK TO WORK!

oh man i gotta click this link to read more about the marvel uk imprint thanks for the suggestion wikipedia i totally remember reading those books in the 90s that was some kooky shit

Sometimes I wish wikipedia didn't include links to everything within any given article so I could just read the one thing I went there to read and be done with it.

Why is it that the closer I get to a goal the more I procrastinate? I am ALMOST DONE with my friend's editing project and I just cannot bring myself to sit down and FINISH IT. I would be SO HAPPY if it were done and I could just hand it off and yet...

Random question: I have a head cold, an unexpected (and unwanted) Christmas gift. I'm having some trouble sleeping at night due to my nose alternating between stuffed and runny and my throat being irritated and scratchy. Is there a recommended cough/cold medicine that will put me into a blissful stupor for the purpose of sleeping? I promise not to indulge in said medicine and attempt to operate a bulldozer immediately afterward.

Tylenol Cold and flu is good. You can get a pack which has pills for both night and day. I believe the day pills are just the night pills with caffeine added, but they definitely take away your symptoms.

In addition to NyQuil which is so, so awesome, I find success by consuming nothing but a few gallons or pulpy orange juice and some water during the sick day. The benefit is probably due to just flushing the body through and through with tons of healthy liquids, but it works for me nonetheless. Be prepared for potty time to be, uh, quite draining though!

The last time I had a head cold (I've been fortunate and it's been awhile) I used Nyquil but I couldn't remember if they'd changed it somehow. If I have the energy I will head out and see which package seduces me first, the Nyquil or the Tylenol Cold & Flu. And I've been drinking fluids like crazy trying to find solace in a bottle. And by bottle I mean glass of water because I am pretty boring.

Am I the only person who can't wear a knit watch cap? I can't seem to keep them from riding up on my head and either coming off altogether or gathering unattractively and being too tall.

Of course, during those brief times that it's down on my head the way it should be, I look like this:

That is exactly what you SHOULD look like when wearing one - IOW, cool.

I have trouble with hats in general. I think my face is too short.

What is the best thing to do after spending most of the day in bed sick?

    Eat marshmallows. Mmmm marshmallows.

There are "all of the feels" and then there's "My feels. Let me show you them." The distinction is quite clear once you grasp it.
Further illustration to be drawn up at later date/when not procrastinating about checking off list.

Have a care to know which one you're looking for.

    FINISHED!

Well, except for color correction and some sound work--but for the most part I am going to plead ignorance on sound and hopefully they can figure out how to add sound effects and music. But the hard part of stringing the god damn takes together IS DONE!

I just discovered my dog likes whiskey. She saw me having a drink, gave me begface, so I offered her the glass, fully expecting her to get a whiff and go JESUSwhatthefuckareyouSERIOUS and shy away. But nope, tongue shot right out to take a drink -- I realized just in time so she didn't really get any (just a taste of the side of the glass).

    I suppose it's only fitting, though :)

A couple times when I've gone to the grocery store hungry, I've bought a bag of marshmallows, eaten a couple, and then thought now wtf am I going to do with the rest of these marhmallows? I could make Smores but, effort.

I watched that "Life After Porn" documentary on Netflix tonight. I don't recommend if if you like to think of porn as a fun no-consequence diversion. Though it is interesting how some of the people in that industry are really messed up and others know exactly what they are doing and what they are going to get out of it.

So, I have a one day stopover in London on the 5th of January (on my way to las Vegas), what should I do once there. I've been to London at least 30 times before, so don't suggest anything you'd suggest to a first time visitor.
Right now I'm considering The Boy With Tape On His Face or Jerry Sadowitz.

I just found out last night that one of my close friends is opening a restaurant. In like, a month. He's wanted to do something like this for years, so it's fantastic that he's finally getting this opportunity, and I really really hope it's successful. The location is my one concern, though - a lot of other restaurants haven't lasted particularly long in that area.

On another note, a hearty Fuck You to my partner's crappy T-Mobile MyTouch (which always sounds a little dirty anyway) for deciding, on the day of her 14-hour drive from Minnesota back to Tennessee, to stop working. She can hear the other person, but they can't hear her, and the Mute button is grayed out.

I hope we can shop for a new phone when she gets back.

My cheap USB AC charger and cords have broken for my iPod. Looking on Amazon, I see literally hundreds of options, and every single one of them appears to suck in one way or another (this one doesn't work, this one broke in three days, this one started on fire, this one is too fat to fit in a case). I refuse to pay for Apple's enormous markup, though.

    Decisions, decisions...
