Today I discovered that my mother's aversion to bad/scary/violent things is because she cannot disassociate it from real life.

Of course, this begins to get problematic when she chastises me for playing games like Zelda.

Of course the day we're supposed to load everything into the truck is one where both of us feel like we're dying from the plague. Wtf.

Nah, I don't think so. We're both feeling better now though, or we're too amped up on moving stuff around that we stopped noticing.

I think I need more friends. Or at least, more friends who don't have local friends like me that can keep me company when I'm on my own and bored. Maybe I need to be more charming.

It'a 9pm and we are finally done for the day. Going to bed soon because we're lame and alone and need to get up early to get on the road. Wooo.

The fiscal cliff made me get an iPad that we really don't need. However,3/4 of the family is ecstatic about it.

I was feeling a bit frustrated earlier so I drew some cityscapes. It turned out to be a great idea, since it was simple and didn't look horrible (just a bunch of basic shapes thrown together with extra lines here and there for variety), and it got me away from the computer for a couple of hours. I feel much better now, so I'd call it a productive evening.

Damn, make up is expensive. And I'm not in a position to go all empowered woman on it and not wear it. But even going for cheap brands I could clock up €100 just getting basic necessities.

I'm following the official instructions on Steam about how to transfer your games to a different hard drive. The time estimate I'm getting about how long it will take for the 120gb or so keeps going up and down. At one point it was as high as 13 hours and 10 minutes later it was saying 1.5 hours. It's pretty much hit everything in between already. I'm guessing a couple of hours since the transfer rate is around 20mb/sec.

Meanwhile I guess I'll sit here and eat these guacamole flavored ("made with real avacado!") tortilla chips I found at Big Lots! the other day.

I hate waiting for trains in the cold, bit at least doing so remind me that fulminating is an awesome word.

Apartment-mate swears neither of his computers is running bittorrent or any P2P client. Yet when I kicked them both off the network while he was gone, suddenly my ping to google is no longer 1k, it is 30.

I actually don't know what he's doing - maybe he's running a webserver that's suddenly getting traffic? - but I need to have a talk with him tonight.

Can't you set the router to restrict bandwidth by connection? As in "you jokers get the single-lane country road, I get the mass transit thoroughfare"?

Our router is a piece of shit. I should buy a new one, it's true, and throw Tomato or DDWRT on it. But this is effort, and besides, QoS is problematic.

My guess is that he's infected with a Botnet, or whatever the hell the singular of that is. Bot doesn't shoved right. Colony?
