That's how I did it. In my case it was a weird MUD called Afterlife, but thanks to it sucking away the hours of my youth, I can hit 80-90 wpm.

Edit: Just to prove it, I took the test and am now ranked #42, barely beating out my lifelong rival, DICKS DICKS DICKS.

They have every available employee searching the wreckage for your package, but a combination of rising flood waters and overturned school buses piled on top of the Fed-Ex truck is hampering their ability to get the package moving again.

Holy crap, we should have a "Bitch about shipping" thread. This is reaching critical mass and I haven't even starting mailboxing tomorrow.

I used to be able to type 95-100wpm. But atrophy brought that down to about 75wpm. Having this software on my workplace computer has dropped that down to around 55wpm (my typing speed kept throwing up all sorts of nasty warnings due to my keyboard use so I had to activate the typing speed limiter to bring my RSI risk down).

    My cat has paws!

(I tease, but furry cat bellies are wonderful, especially if the cat will let you pet said belly. Without taking off your hand, I mean.)

    Happy birthday to meeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm a little surprised that IKEA uses the term 'allen key' and even more surprised that at the very least they don't capitalize it. Allen is a registered trademark of, uh, Apex I think? The preferred term is hex key.

Edit: Looks like in most official literature they use the term 'hex key', or as it is called in Sweden, 'flårgenshpärkel'.

I don't like bacon anymore. I used to love the stuff, but now it just makes me sick to eat it. I guess this could apply to all greasy foods, but bacon especially. I've been lying to myself for the last ten years, trying to keep the bacon dream alive, but no more.

I know people who get regular snow get tired of it and I most likely would, too, if I moved to a cooler part of the U.S., but for those of us in the Southeastern United States who are ecstatic over snow that just covers the grass once every 3 or 4 years, your pictures represent a fantasy dream world that we would like to hang out in for about a week.

    Nice pics!

Right. Not that Michigan can complain when compared to Norway, but when we used to have winter consistently, it'd be really nice and pretty for a few days but it got old quickly. And you can't leave. It's just there - snow and slush and ice and scraping your car and driving slowly and being cold and wet and having salt everywhere for several months on end.

Fortunately, climate change has totally fixed all that. Yay?
Soli-chan, RyanMM and Elyscape like this.
  32. Shadarr Keeper of the Elemental Materials

It's fixed it in areas that aren't on fire. I'm pretty sure Michigan and Canada are bigger fans of global warming than Australia, right about now.

Yeah, I knew to put that caveat in because my wife lived in the South until she was 5 and then spent 15 years in Utah. She always says that first snow is great and then you just have piles of dark slush all over the place for months.

I still can't help, but look longingly at Thoro 's pics. :)

Hopefully it's clear that my comment was a sardonic joke, but if not... it was.

However pleasant the conditions if considered outside their context, experiencing a significant change in the seasons over the duration of a just a few decades feels ominous and extremely unsettling.

Here in Michigan this actually seems like a pretty standard Winter apart from that week of 50+ temps back in the middle of January. Nowhere near as mild as last year and nowhere near as harsh as the year before.

    SqueakyFoo and Elyscape like this.
  38. Tyjenks Hard Cider Gal

No one will find this hard to believe, but there are relatively intelligent, educated professionals that I know personally who still believe there is nothing to global warming. They won't even admit that it is worth looking in to. It's all just cyclical weather patterns. Politics has turned everything and everyone to shit.
  39. Shadarr Keeper of the Elemental Materials

I can't stand people who think all opposing views are automatically equal. It's a result of the "get two people on and have them fight" format of most TV debates. Nobody ever gets called out for lying, or for having no factual basis, and so the whole idea of the weight of evidence is pretty much lost on some people. There are people who believe the Earth is flat. That doesn't mean the issue is still up in the air.
