Except the character is fifteen or sixteen and the protagonist is seventeen. Legally speaking, it's not pedophilia. Morally speaking, however, that route is still terrible and creepy.

Was it? Is it ok to take a game with morally reprehensible content, ignore it and gush about how the rest of the game is awesome? To me that's exactly the kind of behaviour that has landed videogaming at large with a skewed view on women. Something discussed at length on this very forum.

But hey I guess it's OK so long as the other routes have cute butlers and buff martial artists.

The line I was referring to was the "Even if it is furry." That was unnecessary, as far as I'm concerned.

As this is a loaded topic and I don't really have my ideas sorted out, I apologize if this response is rather scattered:

I am personally uncomfortable with games that have morally reprehensible content as well, but there are numerous games out there that contain such material that are still well done outside of that. Considering the fact that the content is contained in one route specifically that can be entirely ignored, I don't see why the rest of the game can't be enjoyed. I do agree, however, that it shouldn't be swept under the rug, but there are some topics people would rather not think about and that's simply a natural reaction.

And who here said that the rest of the content made that particular route okay? Where did you read that? All that was said is that Shun's route was one subject they'd rather not discuss because it made the forumer uncomfortable. Just because they enjoyed the rest of the game doesn't mean they're fine with that particular route.

If you think that just ignoring the problem is just as bad, though, that's a different story, and I honestly don't really know where I stand on that particular subject, due to various reasons.

Lord Jesus, why is this a thing that needs to be delved into?

One, it's technically not pedophilia, since both of the people in question are under 18 and within one year of each other.
Two, regardless, Shun acts like and looks like a child. Naturally, this will cause some people to be uncomfortable.
Three, the tone that the protagonist takes in Shun's route is abhorrent. It's spoken like what I personally believe to be an incredibly disgusting mindset. In the first scene with Shun alone, the protag is sitting there daydreaming about Shun taking off his underwear.

The fact that I don't want to discuss this topic is not because I want to "ignore pedophilia". It's because it makes me uncomfortable.

The furry line was more to provoke about the common usage of semihuman appearances to (I suspect) alleviate the impact of otherwise unacceptable acts. I include animation in general here but this case is clearly, well, furry.

I'm not opposed to the game being discussed, nor people describing things they enjoy about it. However, doing so while ignoring the disgusting bits is in essence glossing it over and I don't like that. Maybe you guys were just about to broach that understandably murky topic but just to be sure I applied some snark.

I didn't think of it that way, quite frankly, but when stated like that, it makes sense. It's kind of how some works have a child-like looking character who's actually immortal or something to remove some guilt. I personally don't enjoy that and it still squicks me out. My only grief with your comment was stating that the route had pedophilic content when it doesn't. (I have a problem with the route, for sure, but I'm just iffy about terms being applied incorrectly.)

That's totally fair and I have no problem with that, but some people here are uncomfortable with it and the route has been discuss in derails on other threads (albeit briefly), and it's mostly because it's just one of those topics people don't want to approach because it sets off landmines. Like racism, homophobia, sexism, the topic of abortion, it's a dangerous territory and most people would rather not touch it because they don't find it pleasant and in a general thread like this, people would rather not focus too much on the really negative aspects. It should be discussed, though, I agree. Maybe we could move the topic over to Shun's character thread in the Morenatsu group? Might as well. That way, we can focus directly on that topic without dampening the mood for the other stuff and making people uncomfortable.

I just finished Shun's route for completionist's sake. And now I'm getting EDIT: I am drunk.
The two things are related.
That said, I'll talk about it under spoiler, so people who are uncomfortable with this don't have to read about it:

tl;dr: Shun route is awful because of all things people said before.

About happier routes: personally I really liked Kouya route, it develops well even if it isn't the most original things is really well done. I also felt like Kounousuke's route wasn't complete, it was quite short and didn't develop much the storyline and the characters. I liked that there were more events where other friends were involved as well, but the romance part... I think I get what they were trying to do, bu they could have done it better.

This game made me feel bad from the start however, I really wanted to romance Torahiko from the start...poor guy.

I'm also kinda shipping Kyouji and Soutaro XD

I'm really really REALLY afraid of what they're gonna do with Soutaro, since that's ALSO a shota route. I mean, I imagine at this point it isn't really possible to make it WORSE, but there's a lot of things I don't bother to invent in my mind so I might get surprised in a very awful way. UGH.

Or maybe Soutaro's route will be perfectly fine, and just show the reverse-perspective of a route where you'd be after the senpai character?

Anyway my headcanon is that he and Kyouji are together and from what I've seen so far they're kindof a cute couple so meh.

So what I'm going to do is this.
I am going to delete my Shun file, because I didn't get that far into it in the first place. Then I am going to pretend that route does not exist.

But yes, I greatly enjoyed Kouya's route.

I think that the main difference is that Shun is a shota but in a "I'm a child who is only technically fifteen years old" way, while Soutaro doesn't seem to have that issue he seems just to be someone who is a year younger than the main character and has a crush on his senpai. It think that making Shun a romance option wasn't a good idea from the start, mostly because of how his character is. The writer of his route should have really took his character seriously, in order to make Shun an acceptable romance option.

So I'm a bit more relaxed about Soutaro.

Soutarou is one year older than Shun, but most likely one year younger than the protagonist. He's in his first year of high school, Shun's about to start high school himself.

SO ANYWAYS. I feel bad, because I have to admit I didn't like Tatsuki route all this much. /cringes
I like him alot, he's a great onii-san character! I just didn't feel like the romance was natural. It was too friendly, like, I dunno, like something you'd expect from two people who considered the idea before and just let it happened. I kept thinking "wait, did he keep in touch with Tatsuki or what?" because they looked so close. What I really loved about Kouya's route it watching them get closer, from casual-hang-out-at-the-park friends to talking-about-family-issues friends. So it made sense when it devolved into romance, since they've been through alot of emotional stuff together.

Maybe I'm just biased because I love huskies so much. Dragons are just not as fluffy. I played Dandelion too much, hehe~

Scratch this - translation's going to take a bit longer than expected, because this update added a lot of stuff.

For instance, the game is now affection-based, so you can freely choose who to see each day instead of choosing a route at the beginning. That, and quite a bit of new dialogue for the existing routes.

Yay! I was kindof expecting this with the map view previews the game had, with all the locations and the little avatars and stuff over each one. I thought it was a good idea to do it and wondered why it had only really been half-implemented, but hooray that it's making progress! I really like that kind of system.

Good and bad news:

The good news is that both Shin and Juuichi seem to have relatively serious routes. They were smiling and blushing a lot, so I think Hiroyuki was being a nice guy. Also, the ending theme for this update is amazing!

The bad news is that some of the sounds used during the adult scenes (Shin has one, at least that I could get (maybe I made the wrong choices), and Juuichi has two) are similar to Kouya's sounds. So turn down your volume!

I hope they are able to translate quickly. I wanna play Shin's route. :D

I've noticed I tend to have more of a thing for their DADS than them. This is probably because I'm nearly old enough to be their mothers so their fathers are in my age range and just you know what I'm shutting up now

This... this wasn't that bad, in comparison to the first one. I mean, it sounded... crunchy, but I can just blame it on the bed I guess. The mayo bit is inexcusable, though. Unless beastmen salivate that much more. Which is something I don't find myself wanting to think of.

Of course. I'm not as irritable/dumb/close-minded to judge a whole story by only a couple of scenes. I really enjoyed the rest of it! Also, the music is amazing.
