Yes, they remade it, I saw the preview today at Total Recall. There are other trailers out there, but the one I saw in the theater seems to have been taken down everywhere it's been hosted. Red Dawn was released in the midst of the Cold War, and that's really where it belongs. It was a great movie, but remaking it now is kind of silly, particularly since the original was so iconic. From the trailer and IMDB, it looks like North Korea developed some kind of EMP weapon and invaded. The Wolverines, led by Chris Hemsworth as Jed, are behind enemy lines and start raising hell as expected. They then decide that they have to capture the EMP weapon to give America a chance to fight back. It also looks like they cranked the Nationalism up to 11. Instead of an emotional "Avenge me!" scene and the father getting gunned down by a firing squad, the father points to the lead enemy guy and says something like, "Kill this guy for me!" before getting shot in the head with a pistol by said guy. I can't see this movie being anything but terrible.
