Screw Mafia - Let's Play Monster Squad! You know, for Grown Ups!

"Well that wasn't useful at all."

Ryutaro lets the stained note slip from his fingers back to the soaked floor.

"Geez, I didn't know Harry was into this stuff..."
  2. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

"Well, Gryff , if you had been listening you would notice that you were the first one to actually suggest killing someone. Idle threats do no harm, but your intent seems to be more violent. Quite fitting for a monster, yes?"

She shakes her head, and then turns to Ana. "Deposit box? I think there was one in one of the supply closets, but I never thought it had anything in it."

Ana laughs and slaps Gryff on the back.

"Looks like somebody still has their head on their shoulders after all!"

[[OOC: Seriously though, this is why I'm voting jordantigers. Somebody who has experience hosting mafia games before should know that no-lynch on the first day is an incredibly stupid move on town's part, so I can't see why he'd do that, unless he's scum and is banking on players being inexperienced and going along with the flow. It's still a flimsy reason, but eh, good enough for a random Day 1 lynch for me. I really don't care who we lynch as long as we lynch somebody.]]
  4. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

"Actually, I think those numbers are the date."

"I doubt we could get to the safe deposit box, without risking letting the monsters get out? " Gryff ponders (Can we get to the Bank, or are we confined to the building?)
  5. Anabanana Hatoful Pigeon

    Location:

"Then we should search the supply closets for the deposit box. If that doesn't work, search the rest of the building."
  6. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

"Do you really think Harry would have let a bank take care of his things? He was a lot of things, but trusting was not one of them."

"Well, damn, I think you're right. Guess we should start looking for a heavy weapon of some sort to bash the box open when we find it, eh?"

[[OOC: It's 14/12/12 where I am right now, so I totally missed that. orz]]
  8. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

I am tending to agree with @Anabanana's choice, but still hesitating as it is basically following what I suggested in my little rant. It may be Ana is just trying allay my suspicions (PARANOIA AHOY!) :)

On the other hand, I think Jacquelle is responding a little more forcefully that I would expect. We should explore that a little.
  9. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

(Are this tags a little too much, I suspect I am overloading peoples alerts?)
  10. Ozzo Hatoful Pigeon

"Hah! Harry got so mad when I tried to stash some whiskey in his broom cupboard..."

Ryutaro's fist clenches around the rolled end of the paper bag.

"Just thought he was an odd guy. Didn't think he was this odd though..."
  11. Ozzo Hatoful Pigeon

[[OOC: SUPPLY CLOSETS. FUCK ITS LATE.]]
  12. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

[[ Gryff Anybody watching the thread will already get an alert when you post, so we probably don't need to ping each other every time we mention each other. ]]

And you responded more forcefully to Ana's comment than anyone else did. As if the thought of being stabbed would frighten you more than the others. I wonder why that might be?

[[To be honest, I wouldn't worry about the safety deposit box, I was just hoping to keep you guys from running around trying to find the other journals. Now you're running around trying to find the box. Ha! I would worry more about the monsters in your midst at this point. You got the dagger, make plans for it.]]

[[OOC: Dude, not no-lynching on the first day is common knowledge amongst mafia players. Besides, I started typing up that post before I even saw your little rant. Still keeping my vote on jordantigers for now for the reasons I mentioned - he's the most suspicious for initiating a no-lynch vote even though as a experienced mafia host he should know better - but I can be persuaded to switch to Gryff or Jacquelle if people start voting for either of them.]]
  16. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

As I said, I don't mind if people lynch me, as long as it generates discussion and gives the other townies a chance to reflect on who said what, who jumped on what bandwagons and who tried to deflect attentions from someone elses lynching. :) Only the monsters currently know who their allies are, and they are the only people who have a reason to defend someone else that is not generated by the discussion.

Or, in the common parlance. "Come at me, Bro!"

[[It is safe. I'll post this one more time for clarification.]]

--From here on out the Kīla Dagger will be used by the group for lynchings. Whoever gets the most lynch votes will be stabbed by the group with the Kīla Dagger, which will make it clear whether they were friend or foe. The first person who begins a lynch vote against a successfully lynched player will be the one who personally does the stabbing. If it is a judge lynch a random character will do the stabbing. I will use how gung-ho they are to RP it myself. No one person can HAVE the dagger, it belongs to the group and will never fall into the wrong hands due to its magical properties.--

[OOC: Just so you know, voting No Lynch was a very common thing people did on the first day. Because people had to wait one day to use their info-seeking abilities, nobody had any info what so ever.... Although, the one time we did decide to lynch a guy on the first day, he turned out to be the Mafia's 'silencer' type character and everyone cheered "Hooray for lucky guess!". That was amazing, really. In every mafia after that, one person on the first day would always vote to lynch that guy who used to be a silencer as a recurring joke XD]

"Hey hey, I just don't want any of us to end up doing something unnecessarily drastic. We don't know anything about anyone yet. So let's take this slow."
  25. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

"And what about the people who aren't even here?" Jacquelle looks around the room. "I mean... why would a monster show up, investigate the screams? Why not just stay in bed, feign ignorance?"

She sits down in the middle of the floor and shakes her head. "I mean... I'm not saying we shouldn't try to kill anyone. Just maybe, we're being hasty with the people who were at least good enough to show up when they heard a girl scream."

  27. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

I think people rely on info gathering abilities too much. What people say, do and don't say can be just as enlightening as someones ability.

In anycase, a small chance of getting a monster tonight versus no chance is better than nothing.
  28. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

I preferred you voting for me and arguing why, to unvoting. Both Ana and I have spoken on how not voting is bad for Townies and you go and do that!?

  29. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

"Didn't I just say I wasn't against killing people? Do you have a problem with listening, Gryff?" She scowls.

Then she stands still for a moment, attempting to regain her composure. "S-sorry. I just-- obviously we should still kill someone! I'm not an idiot. I know what's best, for us all. I was just suggesting that it might be better to kill one of the people lying low. I mean, that seems pretty suspicious to me." She eyes Gryff. "Unless you're trying to cover up for one of them."

"Don't make me change my mind about killing you.

[[OOC: I think it's been proven statistically, at least for regular mafia setups, that it's always better for townies to lynch on the first day than to not lynch. I'm not crunching the numbers for this particular setup, but I think that generally grabbing the chance to kill scum is better than just sitting here and waiting to be killed, as your silencer example demonstrates.]]

Ana growls and leans close to Jordan, breathing right into his face.

That is sort of the point of my actions. Choose someone, tell us why and then vote.

Sure, voting for a quiet one is move designed to stop the monsters keeping quiet, however at the moment while only Kat , Matthew Schempp and soundlyParanoid havent posted at all, only 4 of us have posted anything about voting or even discussion on voting. It may be that the none posters are the monsters (there are three of them.. Dum dum dum! Job done, lets go home), but I think it is quite likely that one of the people posting chaff has just as likely chance of being a monster.

    [Lynch GRYFF]

"And this time I'm not changing my mind."
  39. Gryff Level 90 Paladin

Excellent, now try to explain why you think I am the best target to lynch. Get others to agree, or disagree and then we have a game going. Incidently, saying you are not changing your mind so early is not a sign of a townie trying to find out information.

Currently you, Ana, Jordan and myself are the only people playing. Lets draw some others in so they can provide insight or clues.

Ozzo, Maniskumquat, AaronSofaer, Kwhit, JohnStargazer and Tome-chan have all made content free postings so far. I think there is a good chance at least one of them is a monster making chaff postings so they show on a pure posting count, but aren't doing anything that allows analysis.
