Only 39% of Obama's voters identified as white Christians? That's gotta be a first for a successful presidential bid. Or white Christians who voted for Obama just don't primarily identify as Christians?

Well it's not a "first", I guess, I don't think religious identifiction is directly comparable over really long time series, like back to the 19th century. "White Christian" probably = Protestand self-id here.

2012 breakdown. Obama got around 50% of Catholics, 70% of no religion, 70% of all other non-Christian religious id.

His numbers with Christians were only slightly worse than 2008 and 2004. Their share of the electorate dropped an amazing 6% between 2000 and 2012.
