Suddenly reminded of this: Haha. Fire/Psychic is pretty new sounding too. Thank lord it isn't something really common, like Fire/Dark. But I still want Fire/Ice and Grass/Fire and Water/Fire and Flying/Ground and--- *bricked*
Not to rain on anyones parade, but that magazine is notorious for making shit up. It's not a reliable source. At all.
That's okay, no need to apologize. It's from an unofficial magazine. They based the dual typing solely on the trailer, where you can see the three starters using different attacks (Chespin's using Pin Missile, which is a bug type move, so I really don't know where they got grass/dark from)
But either way, I reckon, if it's a fox fire type, foxes are seen to be all graceful and all, so hopefully it won't be a firefighter. Pleasenomorefirefighters ifitsafirefighteriwon'tbuythegamewithmoney
All I know is if this is another gen with a fire/fighter starter I am going to have to cut someone. Blaziken was nice for a glass cannon and all, but having to cover for a weakness to flying types three generations in a row is fucking ridiculous and makes game play feel stale.
They shouldn't just keep reusing something anyway. I mean, that's be like, all the water starters being frogs! It's get boring and yawn and WHERE ARE THE BEES. I mean, PLAYERS DEMAND VARIETY! Who wants to make banners for the possible protest when the types are released?
Dang, Fennekin is super cute. Usually, I always go for a water starter because I love water-types, but fire-type foxes are pretty badass. (VUUUUULPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIX.)
...Wait now I'm confused. There are only two Pokemon ever with that combination, Houndour and Houndoom, I thought? Did they add a bunch in Gen V or something?
Nope. I just checked and Houndour and Houndoom are still the only Pokemon with a Fire/Dark combination. Gen V DID, however, introduce a Fire/Psychic Pokemon in the form of Zen Mode Darmanitan and Psychic/Fire in the form of Victini, though if Fennekin's evolutions are indeed Fire/Psychic, they'd be the first non-legendary Pokemon to always have those two types. As for Froakie's evolution, it LOOKS more like it would be a Water/Ice Pokemon to me but that might just be its coloring. There's a few Pokemon with that type combination already, mainly from Gen 1, though the Spheal line has Water/Ice as its typing as well. If the article is correct about it being Water/Fighting, though, Poliwrath and Keldeo also have that typing. A lot of people, including those that wrote the article, seem to think Chespin's evolution will be Grass/Dark, which I'm not too sure about myself. Grass/Dark Pokemon are not entirely unheard of, though, with Nuzleaf, Shiftry, and Cacturne all sharing that typing. Personally, I hope that the article is correct about the eventual typing of the starters' final evolutions, since each new type actually allows each starter to counter the Pokemon their primary type makes them weak to. Froakie's Fighting type would be able to counter Chespin's Dark type while Chespin's Dark type would counter Fennekin's Psychic type, which would counter Froakie's Fighting type.
I really hope we get some dark/ghost types that can evolve. Dark/ghost types are awesome, but so far there's only been Spiritomb and Sableye, both of which weren't as awesome as they could have been, since they couldn't evolve. I still love Sableye, though. Sableye's badass.
Hm, I must have been mistaken then~ Oops. I could have sworn Fire/Dark was more common though, I mean, I automatically link them. Hm. But I do still want the weird pairings like Fire/Ice though hehe.
I've never seen a chestnut in my life but on a forestry test I recognized one because it reminded me of Chespin. I really do hope though that Fennekin is a Fire/Psychic dual type in its final form. I don't mind the Fire/Fighting types as much as some people, but aesthetics-wise Emboar was disappointing, for me at least. I like more agile-looking Pokemon, and Gen V made me finally break my streak of always choosing the Fire starter.
Hey folks, I just thought I'd revive this to let everyone know that if you missed Keldeo before and have Black 2/White 2, Keldeo is currently being distributed via Wi-Fi until February 12. If you already had Keldeo from the Gamestop distribution earlier, you can use this to get a second one! Speaking of Gamestop, according to Serebii, Meloetta is going to be distributed for all 5th Generation games at Gamestop stores around North America from March 4th to March 24th. No word yet on a European release, though...
LIKES WITH THE PASSION OF A THOUSAND WHITE-HOT SUNS Going to make so many Pokestar movies and musicals with her! ... I have my priorities straight!
... Sorry for double-posting and this is a little embarrassing to ask but um how do I receive the Wi-Fi event Keldeo?;;
Woah, I hope that's true. That actually looks pretty cool, considering I don't usually like he pinks. The eyes make me want to guess Ghost type, but it's too cheerful? Hm. *mentally goes through types* Maybe Flying, because of the wavy... things. Hm, the types we haven't had are... Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Dragon, Ghost and Steel. So it's probably Flying or Ghost, I'd say, or Poison at a stretch. That is, if it's right. Hm.
Personally, I'm getting Normal type evolution-vibes. The design reminds me of Pink Bow and Silk Scarf, the two type-enhancing items for Normal types.
My mind was saying that they'd probably do the other types before Normal, because of redundancy or something, I don't know. But you're right, it might be Normal. That's be mildly disappointing. It's not like we don't have our fair share of good normal types.
Ooooh, so that's the new pokemon I've been hearing about. It looks like a Normal type, but that wouldn't make sense since Eevee is normal, unless it's supposed to a direct evolution. And we have a lot of normal types already (and I don't like normal types). So I'm thinking it's a Flying type.
I'm a little doubtful, at least if 'Ninfia' is supposed to be the English name. It seems strange to me they'd break the long-standing '-eon' tradition for Eevee evolutions.
...hm, I look at Ninfia and see Ninfeon coming from that, maybe. And then, I also see the word Nymph. Which can be to do with bugs. But I doubt it's a bug, for some reason. I'm reading too far into this---
Ninfia is the Japanese name, which fits in with a few of the more recent Eeveelution names I get the normal type vibe from it. Although, if they decide to add a new type to the game what better way to showcase it.. Another option could be a dual type.
While a new type would be COOL AS HELL, it seems a bit odd that they'd go for a new type rather than Eeveelutions of existing types already. I mean, I can think of at least five people I know who want a Dragon type Eeveelution, and Ghost would be pretty damn cool to have. So, I guess, it seems unlikely that they'd do that. But knowing them, they'd probably do it anyway.
... EVERYTHING ABOUT THE NEW GEN BEING CALLED X AND Y IS ALL BETTER, FOREVER, BECAUSE OF THAT GLORIOUS MON. Judging from the way the illustration has been set up, I have a feeling that Ninfia is a direct evolution, possibly not even needing a Moon stone. That'd be cool. I adore my normal types. My Bibarel Jagger is one smooth operator when it comes to kicking ass. Well, ghost types have never been all doom, gloom and malevolent presence. Prankster ghosts everywhere, and all of the very happy smiling faces in the anime... And we can't forget the lovely Jellicent... So it's possible that this could be a ghost-type Eeveelution. Let's not get our hopes up too high, though.
Yeah, that would be cool, but kind of a shame, considering how many other types they could've picked. Actually, maybe it's a fighting type? I don't know why I think that.
It can't be a direct evolution, because of how Espeon and Umbreon evolve. (High Friendship + time of day when not near the rocks for the Ice/Grass evos) Would be too easy to get the wrong evolution that way. Unless they decide to add stones for those two evolutions into the main games. But why add two new stones when you could reuse a current one.
I saw a theory somewhere that maybe it's by leveling up, but with a certain gender. Then there would have to be a "male" counterpart (unless Ninfia's the "male" evo), and a second one at this point seems unlikely. I think they would've released the two at the same time, but I guess there's still hope for a second evo. Regardless, Ninfia is adorable. I want. <3
They wouldn't have to be new stones; it could be a Sun stone for Espeon and a Dusk stone for Umbreon. Or it could just use a moon stone if it's the normal-type. Although this makes me wonder; they'll have to add new stones eventually if they plan to keep making new eeveelutions. After all, there isn't a specific stone for poison types or rock types or anything like that. Or maybe they'll use held items as evolution triggers.
I was thinking for the new evolution you would have to level up Eevee while it's carrying a Beauty Scale. The new evolution reminds me a lot of Milotic.
That would make too much sense. They've been quite adverse to retconning evolutions so you'll get a new stone, held item, or location.
Apparently, it's english name is Sylveon. Here's the official video. Edit: Oh, and the video description mentioned it being a different type than the rest of the Eevee evolution, so I don't think it's going to be normal or a direct evolution of Eevee,
New eeveelution? That hasn't happened since Gen4! (I remember thinking as a kid that Absol would be the eevee flying type for some reason) As for type... I have no idea. I'd almost say it's a Shiney evo, by the coloring and sparkles...but Ninty wouldn't be that cruel, right? Right? I really like the fire starter too! Though I really wonder if it's another fire fox (considering, well Vulpix) to me, it looks more like a coyote with those big ears than a fox (but I dunno if Japan would make a Coyote inspired starter of all things). Also AW WATER/FIGHTING!? So tempting...
I think that Sylveon is going to flying type. The name reminds me of Sylph, god of wind. Since we don't have a wind-type, the closest we have is Flying.
German name is Feelinara, with Fee meaning fairy. This confuses me even more. They're not going to make a fairy type, are they?
I'm going with fox starter because of the "Fennec" in the name. Fennec foxes have big ears like that. They are also ridiculously adorable.
Hey everyone. I'm reviving this again to remind you all that if you live in North America, Meloetta is being distributed at Gamestop from March 4th to March 24th to all Gen V games. Also, I found this neat Umbreon vs. Sylveon fan animation. Man, the Pokemon community is talented.
