I'll watch this but after the last of my favorite characters being killed , its going to take a lot to get me to like those that are left. I don't think I ever got over the loss of Batiatus.
And the damned thing's (GET IT?) all wrapped up now. Overall I think the last season mostly just sort of staggered along, but it delivered a satisfying finale. It shouldn't have taken that long to get to a point where our heroes didn't engage Roman legions entirely by leaping and spinning in slow motion and saying RAAAAAAARGH (which is ancient Latin dialect for 'How do you do, arterial blood sprays?").
Enjoyed this season and loved every episode after they left Sinuessa. That last episode was brutal. That said it seems like there might be a follow up series involving Caesar, Crassus, and Pompey. I'm not sure why they would have spent as much time setting up Caesar and then physically introducing Pompey in the final few minutes if they weren't pondering it. That and the escape of some of the slave characters (hopefully) bodes well for a Roman themed triumvirate series.
Huh, I'd thought about the lack of an ending for Caesar, but yeah, why physically introduce Pompey so late? Crassus still lives? Hmm. Starz might run with that. Also, just watched the ending again and I'd recommend everyone watch the closing credits. Not only does it recap all the important people throughout the show (except Ashur, but that's ok, because fuck you!) but at the very end, there's a cut of that infamous scene of Andy Whitfield named the Maker of Rain for the first time shouting "I... AM... SPARTACUS!" R.I.P. Andy. I also really liked that it seemed like they were heading towards a Gladiator-type ending with Gannicus, but nope, surprised me with a vision of Oenomaus instead. Nice work, showrunners.
I totally saw Asher in the recap-credits. That final clip of Andy was just awesome. I was so crushed when he passed. OTOH, Liam looked a LOT like Andy in the final death scene. Not sure what it was exactly, but the resemblance was far more uncanny than usual. Edit to Add: Raping Caesar? Loved it.
