Steam Winter Sale 2012

Whadda want? Whaddidya get?

I know that I'm looking for a couple of ones to go on sale - FTL, perhaps Blood Bowl, Dark Souls - but I'm sure I'm going to end up buying a whole lot more than just those three.

Hoping for the Broken Forum Games of Games -- Dark Souls.

I'm with you on that one. Of course, I'm going to end up buying a $40 controller to work a $12 game.

For the right price (5 euros and less) I would get Rayman Origins, I am Alive...and that's all I can think of.

Be sure to keep an eye on Amazon's download deals, since they sometimes have better pricing on the same games Steam has on sale, and a lot of the games they sell this way register on Steam (though be sure to double check if that's important to you).

I'm expecting all three to be a daily Deal/Flash Sale at some point. I'm sure I'll pick up some other bits and bobs as well.

Really only looking for The Walking Dead and Torchlight 2. Maybe Skyrim and Orcs Must Die 2 DLC.

Oh yes, forgot about Orcs Must Die 2 and The Walking Dead, I want those as well... here we go already and the sale hasn't even started yet!

As for my wishlist, its littered with like 50 games and dlc, but what I want most of all is Anno 2070 complete pack on Steam, make it so Gaben!

Dishonored, Dark Souls (maybe), Anno 2070 (maybe), Lego Lord of the Rings, and that RPG Maker thing.

I'm mainly hoping for Dishonored and Sleeping Dogs, but anything in my wishlist should go on sale. Even if it's already cheap stuff, it should be even cheaper!

Dark Souls is on sale... Do I get it now, or hope it's even more steeply discounted? (Currently about $13 off...)

If it isn't a daily deal or a flash sale you are better off waiting.

If you didn't get the games in the THQ Humble Bundle, the collection is a hell of a lot of gaming for $25.

I would guess that Dark Souls is an extremely strong candidate for a daily and/or flash sale (and again, it could come up for even less on Amazon as well, and it's a Steamworks game).

Moreover, one should never buy anything from a Steam sale unless it's on a daily or flash sale until the last day of the sale, unless one must absolutely have it right now. Literally everything on Steam could go on sale for cheaper at some point during the larger sale.

Are pub matches in NS2 welcoming and fun at all for brand new players? Or is it more like LoL where teammates just curse and shit all over you if you don't know all the tips at tricks from day one?

But I want now! :)

On Rookie servers , yep , its one of the friendliest multiplayer communities I've been a part of.

On Regular servers , tempers do flare if you don't follow orders or are a horrible commander.

Then don't come crying to me if it's half again as cheap in a few hours, mister! :P

Well, Mr. Economics major, you might want to come up with an equation that would minimize cost while maximizing available playtime in-between semesters. If you get it now, it could be the only game you buy all sale! Think of the savings,too!

I made my wishlist, and I checked it twice. I have a bunch of small/indie games I want to try. I expect most should be $5 or less. If not, I'll wait till next sale.

Off the top of my head, Anno 2070, XCom, and Dishonoured are the only games I'd buy no matter how cheap they got, but I could be wrong (well, Far Cry 3, but that isn't getting cheap enough).

Dark Souls will be on Steam or Amazon for $15 or under by the time the holiday is over, so you most definitely want to wait.

Arkham City GOTY for $7.50 is totally a buy, but the 360 version has been on my wishlist at Amazon forever, so it may have been bought for me as a Christmas gift. I have dispatched a missive to my lovely wife asking for permssion to buy.

I have Dark Souls for the PS3 but haven't played it. If it goes on sale for $15 or less, is it that much better on the PC? Given I currently have a great rig with a GTX760.

Also, where's the meta-game?
