I'd recommend Natural Selection 2 for $10 for the long term community and tentacle death, but ymmv. Darksiders 2 would be on my list but I'm just now getting through (and enjoying!) the first one and I don't want to be tempted by the sequel just yet. The only thing I'm really waiting on is a ~$10-$15 Dark Souls sale (thanks to BF), though I'm looking at the Penny Arcade 3 game for $2 too. Anyone got a yea/nay on that?
I was excited when I saw the Borderlands franchise sale. I haven't picked up any of the DLC yet... and then I saw the DLC wasn't discounted. I am sad.
Just a warning if you buy Dark Souls, run don't walk to Lizard King's big heap DS thread and apply the patches and whatnot.
Considering picking up the Borderlands GOTY, since my copy can't be activated on Steam and I have none of the DLC. Otherwise, though, I'm hoping for Sleeping Dogs, FTL, Spec Ops: The Line, Dark Souls, and maybe a Crusader Kings 2 DLC sale that includes Sunset Invasion and the rest of the most recent DLC.
I waiting for Dishonored and Dark Souls. I know Dark Souls is on sale already, but I'd like to see it go a bit lower, since this will be the second time I'm buying it (I already have it for PS3).
I do want Scribblenauts, but I'm withholding purchase for now out of annoyance that for no good reason, the game isn't actually available here in the UK until February - the deal is available as a "pre-purchase" here that unlocks in February.
I may be able to track everything this time around. We'll find out tomorrow! For those curious about Borderlands 2 (like me), it is $29.99 (50% off). I'm not sure I'll bite at that price.
Already picked up FTL from the GOG sale yesterday (Thanks Creole Ned!) so other than Mark of the Ninja, nothing jumps out.
Is Borderlands 1 worth picking up at this point if I'm too cheap for the sequel? The GotY edition does come with the Zombie Island of Dr. Creole Ned...
I can't recommend Borderlands 1 too highly. Depends on the price. I would call it an average semi-open world shooter with vehicle combat and a million boring guns.
Is there a twitter feed or anything that tracks this stuff? The one I used to follow died, and trying to keep up with this stuff at work is really annoying given that the website is not well-formatted for mobile users.
I'm hoping for a $15 or less price point on a bundle of Game of Thrones RPG and GoT Genesis RTS. Also hoping for low low prices on The Walking Dead, Evochron Mercenary, Fallen Enchantress and maybe 50% off on Skyrim Dawnguard (to make it $10). I already know I will likely pick up Krater for $5 and Bard's Tale for $2.50 at the end of the sale. Hoping Amazon has some competitive bundles as well.
Sooo, nobody's buying Scribblenauts? I'm just wondering if it's worth it. Has anyone actually played it yet?
I'm sort of surprised Steam hasn't tried offering some sort of guaranteed lowest price deal for the sales. I'd really like Dark Souls, but the fact that I might be able to get it at nearly half its current price is keeping me from pulling the trigger. If Valve would guarantee I'll pay the lowest price for the game during the sale, I'd happy fork over my $26 bucks right now and let them have the difference for a few days.
Friends don't let friends by Fallen Enchantress. Just kidding...but if you like that genre, I'd strongly suggest you look at Eador on GOG first. It's an awesome game of the genre and at $5.99 you really can't go wrong. Might fill that niche for you and save you some dough in the process.
I have games backlogged from the last winter , summer , and autumn sales, the circle is now complete! D:
That's exactly what they DON'T want. They want you to come back over and over again, every day, every time the flash sales re-set, hoping for that one game you desire at the lowest possible price, and they're happy to give it to you in the end. Why? Because in all those visits, you've bought one, two, three, twenty-six other items that you didn't even know you wanted and which you would never have seen if you just got your Dark Souls with a price guarantee and got out.
Really? I thought FE was supposed to be really good, the ying to Elemental's yang so to speak. Not so? Thanks for the tip on Eador. Looks fun and I'd never heard of it. I will have to check it out.
By all rights, FE is supposed to be pretty good (77% on Metacritic). I'm not seeing a lot of outright love, but it appears to be solid strategy title. Check out the Eador thread here: http://brokenforum.com/index.php?threads/eador-genesis.4318/. It's antiquated looking, but it's one of the best TBS games in years - an opinion shared by many who have tried it.
Eador is the better target for your disposable cash, and will take less of it as well. It's a win-win!
FE is lukewarm. It's really good in contrast to elemental itself and given that Paxton keeps supporting it, could turn out pretty well. Eventually.
As an added bonus, Steam now has gift cards (digital and physical) on sale! :D Obviously this should raise Steam's profile in retail outlets, but it should also be really useful for those of us who suffer from regional pricing (grumblemutter AUSTRALIA mutter). Now we have an easy* way to reimburse our overseas mates! *even easier than amazon gift cards, paypal, etc correction - the gift cards look like they're only available via retail. Oh well.
You could use the Savygamer list, which will get updated as the sale goes on: http://savygamer.co.uk/2012/12/20/steam-holiday-sale-2012-everything-in-one-place/
While today sorta stunk, and I didn't end up buying anything (A friend got me Dark Souls for Christmas and I berated him for not waiting until it was even cheaper, and he sorta looked at me like "Are you bitching about free games?" And I was like "well yes I am since you could've saved yourself a few dollars and I wouldn't feel as bad that I haven't gotten you anything and I can't afford to!"), I'm worried about what remains on my wishlist. My only MUST BUY is a well discounted Anno 2070. If it doesn't get low, I might end up skipping this sale all together :( Natural Selection for $10 seems like a nobrainer, but I gotta save just in case something else goes on sale! You'd be best served just wishlisting whatever games you MIGHT want, and then waiting for the emails to roll in from Steam itself. I didn't, and never had a problem.
