Not on Steam, but it might be slightly cheaper somewhere else in the near future. I doubt it will be significantly cheaper anywhere, though.
Man, first two games I installed were Natural Selection 2 and Guns of Icarus Online. Disappointed in both. NS2 has some potential, but it's been aggrevating to learn. Icarus online just seems dumb. Edit: Ah, I think I figured out why. Those are games that may be fun to play with friends. There needs to be a warning about that.
First blood was Splinter Cell Conviction, and its DLC. I want the entire Clancy franchise, but that's bookoo bucks.
Conviction was a fun romp; I borrowed that from a friend on xbox. I wouldn't play through it again; but it was a good time. For $4.99 it's a no brainer, assuming you enjoy the genre.
11 hours left in these flash deals: RPG Make VX Ace $34.99 (50% off). Be your own Obsidian -- with the same QA, too! The Sims 3 $10.19 (66% off). Watch your Sims grow and find love. Then die. :( Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers $2.49 (75% off). Some kind of platform thinger.
Tiny and Big is pretty neat. You have a laser, a rope, and a rocket launcher, and you have to navigate inhospitable terrain. You slice up the destructible ground to make ramps, pull down columns to make bridges, and attach rockets to obstructing debris so it flies off into the distance. It's only a couple of hours long and it tries some things that don't quite work, but few games give you this much power to change the world.
But does that make it harder for say you and one such as I who hasn't purchased the starter pack to play co-op? What are the unlocks? I played one round. Interesting flashback to Herzog Zwei. But the end game was a huge slog for me. The only way I could figure to defeat the enemy base was to shuttle tanks to it's doorstep as quickly as I could. Is that really the end game, or was I doing it wrong?
I've played the beta a bit and had that exact same problem... until I unlocked an expensive-but-devastating late-game siege tank at, IIRC, level 4 or 5. I believe you can also unlock artillery, which should also help!
GIVE ME DARK SOULS ON SATURDAY PLZ. I have nothing to do manana, would like to play it. After tomorrow I've got xmas preparation to deal with. GIMME GIMME.
Looks like this thing doesn't support the creation of games with resolutions higher than 640x480. According to this list, this is a resolution utilized by 00.02% of Steam users. Welcome to 1990.
New flash deals XCOM: Enemy Unknown - $33.49 (-33%) Counter Strike: Global Offensive - $7.49 (-75%) Unmechanical - $2.49 (-75%) Is the XCOM one a mistake? Edit: no it hasn't been corrected so I assume that's the deal.
About 12 hours left in these flash deals: Xcom: Enemy Unknown $33.49 (33% off). Obligatory so-so discount for newish game. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive $7.49 (75% off). Obligatory Valve-developed game. Unmechanical $2.49 (75% off). Couldn't afford a colon in its title. And about 6 hours left for these: F1 RACE STARS™ $22.49 (50% off). THEY ARE IMPORTANT. Amnesia The Dark Descent $4.99 (75% off). Did anyone pay more than $4.99 for this? If so, why? Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 $4.99 (50% off). Could afford a colon and a dash!
Mwahahaha! *cough* I mean: sorry Ned... At least you added the earlier lot of Flash Sales to it as well, plus your comments are funny!
I tell you whut man, the secrets in this game are a bastard to find. Don't be surprised if you miss them, also don't be surprised when the game hands you your ass like all the goddamned time.
At $30 I would have probably bitten on X-com. At $33, I can probably wait until the summer sale. It's on my wishlist, but my backlog is such that I can wait.
That's the thing: I've got so much backlog from previous sales that I'm passing on games that I'm kinda interested in. I wonder if they're saturating the market.
Not just that, but a lot of the games I was vaguely interested in I've picked up in the past anyway. So I'm left with either games I don't care for and will never pick up, games I'm vaguely interested in but I can wait until they go down further, and games I know I want to get. Funnily enough that last group is tiny compared to the others. And even then I sometimes hold off on games I know I'll like in the hope they'll go cheaper...
I've purchased some games more impulsively than others, but all of them have been on my wishlist for a while now.
I'm looking at my wishlist and seeing games that I have no recollection of putting there. Zombie Pirates? I dunno, but it's $1.99. Avadon: The Black Fortress? It's $5, but only 50% off. Should I wait? Fuck if I know. GTA: Vice City? You mean I haven't bought that yet? $5. It'll probably go on a flash sale as GTA Franchise.
The Daily Deals for December 22nd are up. I will edit this post shortly to make it more fancy. Train Simulator 2013 $18.69 (66% off). The only train simulator with zombie DLC (50% off, too). Dungeon Defenders $3.74 (75% off) Spend $12.49 to get the game and its 23 (!) DLC packs. Blood Bowl Chaos Edition $20.09 (33% off), Blood Bowl Legendary Edition $4.99 (75% off) DOTA 2 - Early Holiday Access Pack $14.99 (50% off). Steam says I already own this game. I never bought it, refused gifts of it and yet there it is in my Steam list, like a fungus I can't scrub off the floor. Dawn of War Franchise Pack $9.99 (75% off). Includes Dawn of War I and II and a whole lotta DLC. Dead Island GOTY Edition $6.79 (66% off). Includes 2 DLC packs and a ripper mod for the purpose of ripping. Dark Souls remains $26.79 (33% off). Sorry, jeffd!
Definitely getting Dawn of War II franchise; seems like a good deal at $10. I'm tempted to get Blood Bowl; others here seem to enjoy it. Train Simulator?? I don't understand. Does anyone have a suggestion about whether the Chaos edition of Blood Bowl is an important improvement over the Legendary edition for someone who hasn't played before?
First blood: Amnesia: The Dark Descent. If my laptop can handle it, it is time to stop being a chicken! (bets taken on how far I get before chickening out)
10 minutes! (at least that's how far I got with the demo. I had to watch a Let's Play instead, that game is just too scary!)
I recommend Dead Island with few reservations if you can play it co-op. My biggest gripe was probably the clunky UI for switching weapons. In single player it's generally fine but the parts that are only so-so (pretty much the entire city segment) may be harder to endure without someone joining in for the dismemberment fun.
I'm more enthusiastic about Dead Island than Ned. If you dig zombie movies, etc, it's easily worth six bucks.
Yeah, don't let me dissuade you. Dean gifted it to me last year and I had a great time with it. It's just that I played exclusively co-op so I can only imagine how the lesser parts of the game would feel when solo. For $6.79 I can guarantee you'll get your money's worth unless you are really tired of zombies.
I would also recommend Dead Island. My only complaint is that it went on a bit too long. Steam says I played it for 37 hours (to the finish) but the last 3-4 hours felt like a slog. The first 15 hours are brilliant though and not to be missed IMO.
Dead Island was purchased on a whim when it came out. I did not regret it. It's a whole bunch of fun.
I've been somewhat underwhelmed by this steam sale. Mirror's Edge for $5 was almost tempting, but not really enough for me to pull the trigger. I've already got Blood Bowl (unplayed), DoW2 (unplayed), and just about everything else that's been on sale so far I've had zero interest in. Because Train Simulator? Is that some kind of troll?
Three more flash deals with 11 or so hours to go: Condemned: Criminal Origins $5.09 (66% off). Find the serial killer! Use your smartphone's Autopsy app to aid in the search. Limbo $2.49 (75% off). I just like looking at the screenshots for this one. Quantum Conundrum $3.74 (75% off). A platform/puzzle game that's rated E for Comic Mischief.
Is Dawn of War II a good game for an RTS fan without any previous exposure to or interest in the Warhammer stuff? And why exactly does it have a gazillion DLCs?
If you enjoyed the Company of Heroes series, and you enjoy fantasy armies/units/themes/whatever, you will probably like DoWII. As far as I can tell, most of them are just multi-player race packs. There's a couple expansions & extra campaigns and such, but I think the majority of what you'll see are race packs.
If anyone decided to pick up warhammer 40k retribution during the sale, then you might be interested in knowing that we do have a semi active 40k mp community here on broken We haven't organized any games lately as most of us decided to replace the aliens, nukes and plasma guns with pole arms, crusades and inter family marriage fun
Here's a list of hidden gems with great discounts. Any of these games might get a steeper discount, so specially for the least discounted games, waiting till the last day of the sale is advised. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3032613
