I don't have a stable of PC characters yet. Finally rang the second bell last night with my first.

Huh, I never considered this. Do summon's need to have the ring equipped? I'd have assumed not, but I don't know.

Me either. I do need to do 4k so I need the ring either way (I'll try to get it after work). Maybe they don't need it, though.

SL 77 faith character, with ring, is present at 4k. Lightning works good on them?

It works great on Sif (sorry buddy) outside of the dodgyness. I think it took landing 5 greater bolts to beat him.

Basically you want your highest absolute damage weapon. In the past, fire was favored in terms of damage (in keeping with the pattern set by ghosts in the ruins who are far more susceptible to fire), and indeed in previous patch versions the un-nerfed fire zwei was a one way ticket to victory across NG+s. But I'm addicted to using pyro on them since keeping your stamina makes it a zero risk proposition; I think the only time I deviate now is when I have magic or a ridiculous strength weapon like the BK Halberd.

Edit: 11:20pst and I'm done for the night. Actually had a pretty great random summonee with whom we were pwning the kings. For a moment I thought the 4th one wouldn't even show. But then he did and somehow managed to 2-shot me despite me running away at full tilt. I guess they can warp? No idea, but that sucked big time.

Then I hung out and waited, got invaded by a cheater (no damage taken from my swing), died, got annoyed, switched to my new character, got the Channeler in the Parish to do his enhance-dance on the Balder knights, died. I guess it's negative progress night.

I'm level 42 (maybe 43) and in Anor Londo pre-Law Firm. I may soon be able to help with my STR character. I'm east coast but stay up later-er. DARK SOULS.

ETA: I'd (or you) would have to run the math to see if I'm in summoning range yet. Plus I need to get the Sif ring, but I don't think that would take too long.

I believe it's 10 + 10% of the summoner's level, so you'd have to be 49.

The Dark Souls Wiki says it's 10+ 15% of the summoner's level, fwiw.

That is inaccurate, by my reckoning. [I always fuck up the explanation in one way or another but] the confusion arises from people calculating from the summoner's perspective. It's actually the summonee or invader's level + 10 + (10%)(Summonee level), which accounts for people who are summoning thinking they are getting broader latitude than 10% of their level when they summon higher level people.

Multiplayer items and level ranges explained. I guess an easy way to explain the principal generally is that the level range is calculated from the person using the item.

Lordvessel obtained, still SL 47 and available for co-op. I myself may do New Londo next for the VLE and 4 kings for the dark wraith guild.

That was definitely a case of "SUMMONING FAILED", in one way or another.

FrankA and I did that yesterday, but his second sign dropped still had some failures. However, once summoning was successful once it never failed, for either party. And believe me, we had a bunch of re-summoning on the 4K run.

I still need a hand with 4k, though I'm SL 57 now. I have tried to solo that fight and I just don't think it's doable. The second king is spawning in < 10 seconds for me these days and I just get run over too easily. I'm on PC.

EDIT: Power Within and BSS+15. Neeeevermind.

Nice! What + are you on? I remember reading some guy claiming authoritatively that it was literally impossible to kill a king in NG+ before the second one showed up, which made it that much more fun the first time (of several) that I proved him wrong.

Good job. I took a few stabs at them last night and FAILED. Went to the Duke's Archives instead. Didn't try power within yet, though.

I'll be down to give you a hand later tonight if I'm on. I can basically run straight over them now. I've never killed them solo before, so that was fun.

Just NG with this guy. For some reason they were giving me a hell of a time up to that point. Throwing their AOEs and homing magics repeatedly and just facerolling me.

New patch totally worked with frank tonight. Within 5 minutes or so we were linked(at the guardian) and managed to shenanigan all around for almost 2 hours.

Highlight of the night was us beating the Guardian almost laid back with double int/dex builds with maybe 2 flasks, and then after the bridge at the start of the next area(by the 2 scarecrows) I walk right off the cliff and die.
We then fought Artorias, beat the township(beat down some noob invader who thought running through a bunch of enemies would stop us from running madly at him for the backstab), and made it to the manus fire. Then we found a guy who was using Orenstiens lightning spear and dark fire magic and couldnt beat him in like 3 tries. Great stuff and I look forward to my new start as a strength character again!

You missed out on my getting some working Darkwraith invasions after you quit. One of them actually used that "you can't move" miracle on me as I came up the shortcut lift after them. Sure, I may not be able to move, but I can still kick!

You only need the abyss ring in games where the 4k are still alive. Once they are dead, you are free to move around the abyss without it.

Probably indicative of how many garbage signs were floating around before. I hope Steam has a good sale on it soon to boost the numbers.

Summoning seems to work fine now. Made a Cleric character geared for lots of Jolly Co-Operation because that IS the only starting class that provides you with The Holy Trousers. Also, see Confessions Thread.

Also, got invaded by someone with a full Dragon Covenant outfit, head, breath, claws. At ca lvl 18, Undead Parish. He spammed the breath weapon until I died and then stood over me doing the "Well, what is it?" gesture. A real class act and a fellow countryman to boot. I hope someone pees in his corn flakes.
