Due to terminal admin sloth, the Tapatalk addon hasn't been upgraded for a few versions. Just upgraded it from 1.1.4 to 1.4. Here's what was added for your mobile enjoyment: * Push support (so topics updated while you browse update) * Bug fixes such as likes not showing, not going to first unread post, etc * Full BBcode support (probably not spoiler tags though since that's a 3rd party addition) * @ tagging was added, then removed. Who knows how it shows now! Let me know if there are any issues and I will continue to ignore them as per normal.
Is the app still a crashy bloated piece of poo? @Habibi? I'm sick of using Safari with the desktop theme (since you can't have different themes on different devices), but Tapatalk was just infuriating when I last used it.
I could make it so it switches to a mobile theme when on a mobile device, but a lot of iPad people complained when I did.
This iPhone person did, too. That mobile theme was pretty ugly. As long as I'll always have the option to switch back to the regular board on my phone, I'll be fine. I always liked QT3's mobile skin. Though I have to admit to a problem with it I'm guessing 99% of people never ran into. If you got banned, there was no logout button on the mobile skin's ban screen. There was no (easy) way to get out and just read the forum as an observer.
When I browse the forum on my mobile phone, I do it via the Opera browser app. Seems to work fine, barring a little occasional wonkiness when posting.
Believe it or not, I use Opera out of choice. And possibly some misguided sense of national loyalty or something, I don't know.
It's horrible. Whenever somebody likes one of my posts or replies, my phone buzzes, provoking and almost Pavlovian response in me. It's not healthy...
My problem with Tapatalk is that it always goes to the last post I looked at on that device, not on the forum. Frustrating.
Hmm, it seems to work for me. I can switch back and forth between my iPhone and laptop while reading a thread and each will pick up where the other off. And yeah, thanks for the upgrades Lum. When I first picked up Tapatalk, it was always taking me to the start of the thread and just made me wonder if I was doing something wrong or if it was just completely useless and overhyped.
