Tell Me Of Your Tumblr

So... this seems like the sort of crowd that have Tumblrs! Links please!

Here's mine, which is mostly about pop music at the moment. But I am always looking for people to follow!

Here is mine. I mostly post Jojo, FKMT, Dorohedoro, and desserts. Some Hatoful Boyfriend, Atomic Robo, Cromartie, Hyouge Mono, Gaki no Tsukai, Princess Tutu, etc as well. Occasionally I decide to mainline josei manga and rage about it for hours. Or make fun of Google Translate.

I have a lot of Tumblrs. Not as many as Frizzy, of course, but then who does, am I right?

My personal Tumblr is Nerdy Revelries (which is kind of the best Tumblr name ever, just saying) where I post a variety of stuff including writing tips and discussion, nerdy literary references, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, Kino no Tabi and Gakuen Kino, Sora no Woto, Mushishi, some Sailor Moon (though most of that goes on Jungle Garden Senshi), Harvest Moon and other fangirling about fictional guys, JiLL-Decoy association, rants and analysis of various things, and whatever else catches my interest at the moment. Do not visit if you are afraid of walls of text.

I have another Tumblr connected to Nerdy Revelries which hasn't really gotten off the ground yet, but which I thick could be really great. It's called What Was That Word!? and it's for all the times that you can't remember the word you want to use. When lethologica strikes, just send in a description of the word and I'll try to help you out. And if I'm not able to do so, maybe one of my followers will be know what you mean. Or they might, if I actually had any followers.

My main Sailor Moon Tumblr is dedicated to little known Sailor Senshi that only appeared in media other than the anime and is called Jungle Garden Senshi. I also have four in-character Tumblrs for the Amazones/Sailor Quartet which aren't used for RP, but rather the type of things that I think the girls would post if they had Tumblrs of their own. They might be worth checking out even if you don't like Sailor Moon, since very few of the posts are actually directly related to Sailor Moon. A Perfect Rose is for CereCere, Round Cute Owls is for PallaPalla, Bikes & Things is for JunJun, and Beauty + Beasts is for VesVes.

I also have an Ask (HM64) Popuri Tumblr that never got off the ground and a Sailor Lethe RP Tumblr that I no longer post on. Yay?

I'd contribute except mine is so inactive since I keep forgetting about it.

And it mostly constains Neuro. And Yako. I swear I don't have an obsession.

Sorry if this is a derail, but... can somebody explain Tumblr to me? I tried to get into it a while back, but I don't really get how it all works, and why it's so appealing to fandom compared to other blogging platforms.

Well, it allows you to search for various tags and then follow blogs you like. Then you can like posts or reblog them to your own Tumblr in addition to posting original content of your own. This allows discussions to take place that can be seen by a larger quantity of people and if you like or reblog something, the original poster (and anyone else who has reblogged it) will know about it, which doesn't happen if someone reposts something they found on another blog to their own blog through other blogging platforms. Granted, a lot of this is basically like LiveJournal communities, in the ability to contribute to the fandom and have discussions, but one of the things that Tumblr allows you to do is to have smaller niche areas of the fandom branch off from the main fandom and still gain a followership, such as my Sailor Moon Tumblr, Jungle Garden Senshi, which focuses mainly on senshi that didn't appear in the anime and on things having to do with Crystal Tokyo. You can see other examples of this in Tumblrs like Sailor Moon Outfits, which uses services like Polyvore to recreate outfits worn by various characters in the anime, manga, musicals, and PGSM. If someone only wanted to follow a niche part of the fandom like this, it would be harder with something like a LiveJournal community because even if someone did create a smaller, niche community for a fandom, it would be harder to get discussions going because people would probably not want to follow two different communities for the same fandom, even if the niche appealed to them. Tumblr, on the other hand, lets you easily see all the different things you want to follow in one place, so you can keep track of both the niche and the more general parts of a fandom. It also lets you search tags to find posts, so that you can find other items that might be of interest, which is great, since there are plenty of blogs that might occasionally post something of interest, but that have too much other stuff you're not interested for you to want to follow them. This is especially helpful if you run a niche blog like mine that is only interested in a certain kind of content.

Anyway, that's my take on it, but I have to admit that I haven't used LiveJournal communities that seriously, nor have I followed fandoms through any other blogging platform, so my view might be biased in Tumblr's favor.

Tumblr annoys me because I like being able to read COMMENTS on things I like. Nobody ever seems to do this on Tumblr, and if they added one when they reblogged it I have to dig through 1000 people who didn't. This is a bad format for fostering discussion! It is our world's best resource for funny pictures and reaction GIFs, though

I do have one, but there's nothing on it besides the Woody Allen video I got the title from. Update! I do now update my tumblr, with about 90% Les Mis and 10% Random Other Crap I Like. So if that's your bag, follow me, I guess.

From this, I'm gathering that it'll be more organized if I make different Tumblr accounts (or just different Tumblrs?) to follow all the different kinds of niches that I'm interested in?

OH no, you could be a multi interest blog and people would be fine with that. It's just to do with how you'd like to organize things I suppose.

See, that's why I like Tumblr - the lack of a comments sections. Comments sections have ruined the internet (I'm a full believer that discussions belong on message boards, not on news articles. The unwashed masses should not be able to have any sort of vandal's access to legitimate news sites.)

But Tumblr is much closer to a giant message board then a news site. If someone posts something I find interesting, I want to see what people actually think of it, not that 1700 reposted it. It's like if you had a forum where you could post topics and like things, but there was no reply button.

There are pros and cons to this approach. One thing I really don't like about Tumblr is that even though you can have multiple Tumblrs on the same account, you can only ask questions, like things, and follow other Tumblrs on your main Tumblr, which can make it hard to get publicity for sub-Tumblrs, among other things. On the other hand, each Tumblr account needs to have a different email address, which could lead to you creating dummy emails that you don't check very often, if you ever check them at all, meaning you may not always realize when you have a submission or an ask. It can also be annoying juggling multiple accounts if you hate logging in and out as much as I do. I find it a little hard to manage just two accounts for that reason and can only do so by having them always logged in on two different browsers. If you use my method, you begin to run out of browsers quick when you have multiple accounts, especially if hate IE like I do and refuse to use it.

Honestly, I find that if people want to comment on a topic enough, it will get commented on. There are always going to be people who reblog without any commentary, but those are the people who probably wouldn't be leaving comments on a regular blog either. I know that I'm the type of person who writes a lot, so I'll usually comment on things when I reblog them, even if it's just to say that I agree with them. When I don't comment it's usually because I'm reblogging some fanart or something which doesn't really need commentary anyway.

Tumblr's a blogging platform primarily, so you're not going to get that same sort of experience as from a forum. I think your best bet is following people that have really awesome commentary I suppose but sorting that can be...well. Yeah. Shame about it but there it is.

My tumblr is here. Its content is mostly related to whatever fandoms I'm currently interested in (primarily anime and video games) and other random stuff that catches my eye.

Right now that means it features a lot of Hakuoki and Fate/whatever.

I had looked over your tumblr some time ago when I came across this. I've been trying to restart my Japanese education (I've been rather half-assed about it) and I thought it would be fun to try translating.
I'm still sort of working on it. From what little I can read and infer, it is pretty funny.

I'll admit I'm usually pretty iffy about fanfiction and fan portrayals of the characters of MTNN, but that comic just looks so damn hilarious I mean seriously.

I post/reblog a lot of Shin Megami Tensei, especially Digital Devil Saga. I haven't posted anything in a few days, barring a brief complaint earlier this afternoon; someone did fanart of me and I want to keep it on the front page of my blog forever and ever because I'm so flattered. :>

I'm still umazes on tumblr! I, uh, just like a lot of stuff and don't post very much /pressured
Sometimes I reblog stuff. Random stuff. And sometimes I post things. There is no particular theme. Also I forget about my tumblr for multiple days at a time so I am kind of inactive.

My main tumblr is Fuck Yeah Visual Novels, though it has a very strong slant towards TMGS (mainly because the bulk of fanart for it is massive), otome games available in or originally in English, and the guys in my favorite bishoujo games. I do more posting than reblogging, and I try to keep things as focused on that theme as possible (though I've been tempted to verge into drama CDs on occasion).

My other tumblr is Badasstic Magazine, which I never update. It was originally supposed to be a tumblr for fanart of my favorite manga badasses, but it's pretty much where I dump my favorite Oresama Teacher fanart.

I have a few side tumblrs for other things, but my main is kyasshiou. Uhhhhh if you follow me, expect lots of text posts (translations, essays, analyses) and otome game/CD stuff (screencaps + commentary, scans, news), with the occasional BL or other anime/manga-related post. I do post some personal stuff, but the vast majority of the blog is otoge-related. I do obsessively tag things, though, so it's pretty easy to block things you don't want to see.
