unfortunate title, I know, but we're rolling with it *ahem* Since a lot of us LP visual novels here (don't know if you've noticed), probably at least some of you use text hookers and stuff for Japanese games, right? So I'm wondering if anybody knows how to make AGTH work with English games, or if anybody knows any software that would allow me to capture English text from a running visual novel? Seems like all the text hookers I can find only hook Japanese/Chinese/Korean text. :(
Lovely translators, Smell 'em through the smoke! Seven days at sea can make you Hungry for a visual novel... I am also curious! I tried using one once for a Princess Maker game and could not wrap my head around it at all.
I don't know if this will help, but AGTH will hook the text from the patched english version of Togainu no chi. I tried doing the same to my copy of Magical Diary but nope. Now I feel the urge to experiment. If I find anything, likely won't, I'll post here!
I'm trying to hook the text from the Hirameki English version of Animamundi, and I'm pretty sure I set up everything correctly according to the manual and the screen where the text is supposed to be appears and everything, but it REFUSES TO HOOK MY TEXT. /sad banana face Maybe it only works with certain game engines. /sigh
Have you tried ITH? https://code.google.com/p/interactive-text-hooker/ You're right, it might be that the game engine isn't supported. ;_;
I think I went with ITH in conjunction with TA because apparently it's being updated and worked on. I also use Capture2Text but that's a recent thing for me so still working out kinks. Perhaps you can try that, though? I mean...not sure if this helps. I've never worked with AGTH but from what I hear they have individual um codes for the games or something sometimes which make the process smoother. Sorry. OTL
I fiddled around in Norton for a bit and managed to restore the files, yay! Now the problem is ITH STILL won't hook my text. I've successfully attached it to my game though... and started it up... so the text should automatically start appearing in the white textbox thing, right? :/ Damn it. I might try out Capture2Text. Thanks, Soli-chan! :D
I think Animamundi runs on Flash, so that might be your problem. Maybe it can't read text from Flash.
Apparently there's a way to transcribe text from screenshots. It confuses me quite a bit, but I'm leaving it here in case anyone needs it.
