If someone could give me a little feedback on my My Sweet Bodyguard LP I would really appreciate it!

Since I'm using GREE and lots of dirty jokes, I'm hoping it's coming across alright.

I'm planning a new LP and I need your opinion on one matter. Basically I'm playing a survival horror for snes using an emulator, and luckily the emulator has a snapshot button that is very useful since, you know, I can't use snipping tool while trying to run away from a killer. The only problem is the size of this snapshots:

It's that small even if my game screen is bigger. So I browsed a solution and found out that Irfanview is a lifesaver, it can resize batch of images with a few simple steps, so I tried to resize to 800x600 and this is the result:

As you can see the picture is more pixellated and maybe it's annoying to look at?

I can try maybe to resize to a smaller image, but what do you guys think?

    Oooooooooooooh, <censored>. Good choice. <3

Any chance you could get the image size between those two? I'd personally say the first one's a touch too small, but the second one is unnecessarily big.

If I had to choose between the two, I would say the smaller one, but I agree with Fontaine. Somewhere in the middle would be best. If your LP ends up being image-heavy at all, those big pictures will start to slow down computers and/or crash browsers, and the text is still clearly legible (at least for me) in the smaller one.

Around 600x400 would be a better size, I'd think. That game looks interesting, Faust !

If you resized to 640x480 that would probably be ideal.

What about this? It's still a bit pixellated though
  9. CuteCat Already Beat BF's New Expansion

I just use the screenshot function and resize the images manually, myself.
But yeah, I prefer the smaller one a lot -- second one's far too big. Third one's best.

... By the way, can I get any feedback on my Lemmings 2 LP? If there's anything that needs improvement or if I'm boring or anything. It's harder than I thought to keep up commentary for "dragging most of these idiotic green things into the goal". Goddamn lemmings.

Anyway the irfanview resizing it's weird, maybe it's because then picture is mostly a square, but if I choose to resize at 640x480, the picture is resized at 512x448 O_o

This would be the size (chaged picture so at least you can judge better)

Looks like a good compromise to me now. If there are no objections, I'll go with this one.

I did that with my first few LPs; and while it wouldn't stop me from using it, it tends to get excruciatingly tedious after a while, especially if you're doing LPs that can take around to over a thousand screenshots. Which is why I switched to using IrfanView; plus it helps with getting harder-to-catch screenshots.

You know, I tried the snapshot capture function on Irfanview but I didn't find it very different from using snipping tool, I wish there were good programs that would automatically print and save your desktop in a folder. I'm lucky that the emulator has this function. But still, Irfanview is amazing if it lets you convert and resize a group of pictures with just a few steps: when I LPed Mad Father the game had a screenshot function but the pictures were all png and I converted to jpg every single picture using paint.net, it was tedious.

I am screaming and I could never do that. Maybe try this instead. Also, I've never used Irfanview, but if it's like snipping tool and you have to outline each shot, try Fallygrab instead. You can set a hotkey so it's not quite as tedious.
  15. Hmm? Irfanview CAN automatically take a screenshot of your desktop and save it to a folder (you can set which folder you want it to be), either with a hot key (the default is F10) or by setting it to take screenshot at certain time intervals. You can set it to take screenshots of anything - your desktop, your active window, your active window without the frame, a custom area etc. You DON'T have to outline anything. How have you been screenshotting with it?

Really? Then I need to read more Irfanview tutorials to understand how to do than XD But anyway it's not a problem at the moment since I use the emulator to take snapshots.

Guys, can I get feedback on my Bahamut Lagoon LP?

I'm still unsure of the best way to LP the battles, and I don't know if the crew antics are boring and unimportant or if they are funny enough to be included in my updates. Y'see, every start of a chapter you get to talk to every single one of your units and they have little sub plots going on. It's kinda amusing but it's not plot-relevant at all.

Also, the images! I'm just uploading the screens my emulator takes, and they don't seem heavy for me (I was able to open the thread using my college's precarious wifi connection), but I'd still like more feedback on that.

... I guess I should have posted here sooner, but I totally forgot about it. I blame real life.

And Faust, I demand a link for that LP when you start it.

Hey, some time ago, I started my third LP about Dragon Warrior Monsters and I'm worried that, well, I've been doing pretty badly on it. This is only my third one, but, it feels like it's less popular than my second one, and I'm worried if it's because it's a combination of it being not as good and not a game made by this forum. Plus, I keep changing things around, hoping it comes out better, but I don't really know. What do you all thing?
    Fontaine likes this.
  26. Just skimmed it, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think from a technical standpoint, that LP isn't worse than the others at all. Some LPs just will be more popular than others just because of the popularity of the games being LPed. Also, the Dragon Warrior Monsters LP doesn't have a lot of opportunity for audience interaction, which means people will be responding to your thread much less.

I think you should just LP whatever you want, however you want; if you're having fun, doesn't really matter if it's popular or not, right? :D

I haven't really had the chance to read through that one, sorry. There are always a lot of LPs going on so sometimes it takes a while for people to get around to reading them. That doesn't mean you're doing badly. And naturally (like Anabanana mentioned) LPs with functionally higher audience participation will have a lot more posts. Just from glancing over the thread, you could probably stand to use less screenshots and either summarize or type out the bits of text that you missed. That's just my preference though. *tap-dances out the door*

So I'm being diligent and preparing for an LP of an SNES game. But it'll have tons of voting, so I'm preparing CHARACTER PROFILES! Some of it is my own artistic license, but most info I'm gathering from the game or developer's notes.
Could those of you who follow Otome LPs where they have votes based on profiles take a look at mine and see if it's up to snuff?

Also I'm still debating on how voting shall be held. Mind taking a look at a poor man's version of what I plan?
I'm tempted to use Otome shorthand, but don't know if that'd feel too exclusionary... there's always those profiles though, without that jargon!
Edit: Still really debating how to go about voting.
MariPanda, Nerys and Anabanana like this.
  29. Heh, it's cute that you're using chibis for the profiles <3

I also like that you're omitting most of the growths, skills, and item inheritance stuff, because I think your intention is to get people voting based on the character and story instead of going all EUGENICSSSSSS.

This would definitely help people make up their minds on who to vote for, I think.
With so many options, you don't need to do the "vote via likes" thing. Just present the options, like you have here, and have people vote for their top choice in bold. I like that you have a little summary of each option too. As for the otome shorthand, you should do it if you feel like it. I'm not sure if I would pigeonhole Azel and Fin into dandere or kuudere though... something more specific like "shy yet passionate" for Azel or "faithful and responsible" for Fin might be more descriptive. So, uh, I guess just use them if they really help to convey information about the characters, instead of using them just in order to appeal more to the demographic that's familiar with these terms? Yeah.

    I also like the chibis.

Gonna disagree with Anabanana and say voting via likes might be easier with the number of options you have, since it's easy to lose track of votes when they're spread out too much. Or that could just be me being balls at counting.
    Sarasha likes this.
  31. Hmm, you have a good point about potentially losing track of votes.

Well, if you go that route though, Dame, you should totally find couple fanart! Might be difficult for the more obscure pairings like the crack OT3s though...

I figured some sort of standard profile pic style would be nice. Glad the chibis are liked! I just hope I got all the characters to look like themselves.
Yeah, I really don't want number crunching to be fueling the pairing votes. As nuts are FE4's plot gets, I really like it. So I hope to represent it's story first and foremost in my LP! RNG madness will of course be there in the gameplay.
I'm a bit worried about missing bolded votes too- especially if I have a sudden update spam.
That could definitely be a good use of the space! Though like you said, some of the crack options would be a pain to try and track down. Maybe I should start my FE4 companion thread early and ask for help finding shipping fanart? (I'm not so good with pivix where the real gems are)

Well, the last time I asked was most of three months ago and I made some changes around that time, so it doesn't hurt to ask again: does anyone have any particular feedback to offer regarding my Jade Empire LP? In particular, since I've started putting updates under spoiler tags and using more images per post, I've noticed that the ratio of screencaps to summary has changed, and I'm using more screencaps per scene than I was when I was trying to limit myself to fewer images per post due to image size.

I'd like to know if it's slowed down the LP too much from a reader's perspective, or if for any other reason anyone has an opinion on whether or not it was better before the change?

What Nerys says. I know the game very well, mind you, but it's hard to not show a lot in the Imperial City, anyway, since it's one of the quirkiest hubs in the game. Consequently, it hasn't felt any slower to me because a lot has been happening and it has received its due attention.
