"Well, both sides do it so it's perfectly ok." Chances of getting an independent commission to draw districts? Let's set the over/under at 9.5%.
Today, Republicans in the VA Senate, where they are a 20-20 split between GOP and Dems, waited for one of the Senate members to leave for the Inauguration to ram through a new redistricting plan in their favor with a one vote advantage. Gov. Bob "Vaginal Probe" McDonnell says he's not committed to signing it after it goes through the GOP-led House, but give me a break. Let's add a little more sauce on this crap sandwich, shall we? - Today is a federal holiday. - The holiday is MLK day. - The senator who was missing was Henry Marsh, a civil rights veteran. Aaaannnnd... wait for it... - The Senate then adjourned its session that they did on a federal holiday celebrating civil rights leader Martin Luther King in memory of... Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2013/01/republicans-dirty-trick-inauguration.php?ref=fpb
"The Senate then adjourned its session that they did on a federal holiday celebrating civil rights leader Martin Luther King in memory of... Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson." Seriously, fuck Republicans.
Lee-Jackson day has a long and stupid history. In this case, it was even used to close the session on the wrong day just as a Fuck You is seems. Lee-Jackson day was last Friday. It used to be combined with MLK day until 2000 when common fucking sense prevailed and they reverted that combined holiday middle finger to black people.
Virginia state senate's inauguration gerrymandering gambit shot down by Virginia house's GOP speaker. My favorite part has to be the senate Republican leader's pissy response and the article's note in the update.
