This thread is for anyone who's stepping back from being quite so broken for a while. Like me. Over the last month or so I've found myself logging into BF and other forums significantly less. Partly it's that gaming has receded in my life while other interests (blogging, my musical hacking) have taken center stage. Partly it's that I've found myself conversing more with direct acquaintances on Facebook and IRL, rather than the forum communities at large. Anyway, if this trend continues, I'll be here less for the foreseeable future. This is subject to change without notice of course, but those of you who relish my absence can begin with the DLTDHYITAOTWO chorus now with my blessing. Carry on, all, and I'll pop in periodically for specific questions & flamethrows. Cheers!

Dude, come on. This is a public service. If he wasn't popping back in to answer questions, where would we obtain all of our repoman related news and updates? What, just from Adree hiding outside his bushes? Come on, you and I both know he's not gonna keep us fully informed! We've got needs, here, man! If he wasn't coming back for questions, how would we know which other forums he's not reading? What games he's not playing? What shows he's not watching? What music he's not listening to? What thoughts he's not thinking? (Hahaha, trick question: he's not thinking any of them) Listen, in order to take best advantage of this valuable resource, I suggest we set up a press corps and scheduled briefings so we can process all of our repo-related questions in a reasonable and efficient manner. The alternative is too horrifying to contemplate.

Is there some context I'm missing here? Because there seems to be a lot of acid in this thread which I find odd since I've always liked RepoMan's posts. I also missed all the Gus related drama as well since apparently that happened in a thread I don't read.
I didn't think there was any malice in the posts. I guess it's a matter of whether you think some mild chop busting is inherently mean.
As someone who gets all sorts of mild chop-busting on this forum, I can attest that this does not appear to be mild. Unless you're talking about Chipotle mild, where the mild is actually spicier than the medium.

Yeah, but Quat's post was funny and your post was needling him for attention-whoring without being too much of an asshole, but Bahimiron's post was unfunny and pointlessly, aggressively douchebaggy.
Here is my best attempt to summarize it. First, I'd say the levels of 'acid' are pretty low. I don't think anyone here bears RepoMan any genuine ill will, but sometimes the snark comes across more pointed than intended, I suppose. Okay, background. RepoMan has made several posts where he has reported that he was not gaming or not gaming as much because he had shifted priorities to other things like hacking projects. He did this at least once in the 'What game are you playing at the moment?' thread (which I read regularly) and I found it a little odd that he would make a point of how he was not gaming in a thread specifically about what game you were playing. This thread is kind of a culmination of that, where he seems to be announcing that his priorities are shifting and he will be reading and posting to the forum less. That's all fine, but by creating a thread specifically for it, it's hard not to read it as an attempt to stake out some moral superiority over everyone else who remains to keep posting cat gifs instead of pursuing more worthy matters. It's a bit 'look at me!', you know? Harmless but not entirely necessary. By the way, I am also leaving the forum. To go shopping. If anyone wants, I can be reached at creolened@gmail.com. Well he has been banned from the forum by his own request, so I guess that will make some people in this thread happy.
You know how some people felt that if Gus didn't like the negative attention he was getting, he should have just asked folks nicely to lay off, rather than getting his knickers in a wad and disappearing from BF? This thread pretty much illustrates why that would have been a bad idea.
