Just got around to listening to last week's podcast. I guess that's about the reaction I expected when I sent them the story about the time I saw a guy drink liquid nitrogen.
Indeed. Happened in the mid-90s at a private school. One of my most vivid memories of high school, for obvious reasons.
My version of that is when my 8th grade science teacher passed around a baby food jar with mercury in it. Actually had us hold it, shake it, stick it up next to our eyes. Of course, at one point he looks over to see that some had leaked out onto one girl's desk and she was poking a little bead of it with her finger.
Nitrogen gas began pouring out of his mouth as he belched and coughed, then he fell to the floor screaming and clutching his stomach. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital and he was back at school the next week. It was crazy, and the look of horror and sadness on my teacher's face was just as haunting as the events that unfolded.
"And there's good news! I am the first documented medical case of a cryogenic ingestion." Sure you were. That's why I can't find the article you reference anywhere in the New England Journal of Medicine. That guy is lying. The gas wouldn't just get trapped inside him unless it somehow froze his esophagus closed. As we all know, if the stomach fills up with something and needs an exit, there's a hole in your face for that.
I was expecting his esophagus and tongue to freeze solid and shatter. How anticlimactic. Did he ever offer an explanation as to why he would do something that stupid?
The teacher was demonstrating that you could place a few drops of it in your mouth and spit them out without harm. He asked if anyone wanted to try it. I don't know if the guy thought he was supposed to swallow it or if he just did it accidentally while trying to put it in his mouth. Either way, yeah. Don't do that. Also, never trust authority figures.
I'm getting the distinct impression that Keldroc didn't listen to the Giant Bombcast episode in question.
I've been going through the Giant Bomb video stuff they did for their Game of the Year stuff. Each daily wrapup is a parody of a television show (Law and Order, 60 Minutes, The Office, etc.). Was mostly meh about these, but then they did a parody of Hoarders: Buried Alive featuring Jeff and his video game collection and I laughed out loud. It was pretty damn spot on. I also have to wonder how far off from the truth it really is.
We're not even a week into 2013 and there's already a strong contender for Best Quick Look of 2013. Euro Truck Simulator 2
NeverDead! It didn't look that bad. Mediocre but Alex was a bit silly trying to say it was the worst game of the year.
Yahtzee called it the fourth worst game of the year while also saying he liked a lot of things about it.
Well I'm out $50 after even starting the Euro Truck Simulator 2 quicklook. Everything after Adele is made of gold.
Since Jeff did this I doubt he'll do a proper quicklook so if you wanted to see the Forza Horizon Rally Pack here ya go http://www.twitch.tv/gbjg/b/352324512
Watched the Euro Truck Simulator 2 QL, laughed until I nearly passed out. Then promptly went out and purchased the game and have been driving across Europe since. Man, Great Britain has some terrible roads.
I'm going to have to check this QL out tonight. If it's anything like that time they blew up the plane, I'm really looking forward to it.
Looks like the Giant Bomb site re-design goes live on February 12, which you may or may not be able to preview at seaserpent.giantbomb.com. Also, in wake of the incredibly sexist and misogynistic reaction by many GB users to recent stories on the site, a recent post by Jeff on his Tumblr page has me hopeful this might get addressed. Q: A:
The part where Vinny says he agreed to be Drobot's AA sponsor still cracks me up. Also, has the new site launched yet? It still looks like the old site to me, but I can't escape the feeling that I'm just imagining that.
They were shooting for around 8:00 a.m. Pacific time, or that's what they said on I Love Mondays anyway. So I'll start checking around 11:00 a.m. Eastern.
Heh, I just get this: Whoops, something's wrong. T_T No website relaunch ever goes well. EVER. They should have set up webcams of their office for premium subscribers to watch them lose their shit.
