The latest on the redesign: 500: Internal Server Error A 500 error occurs when something on our end blows up in a bad way. Seriously, they like to refer to it as an “Internal Server Error,” which I think sounds a little gross, but then my mind has been in the gutter for decades. So when you say that, I think of… you know what? You’re better off not knowing what I’m thinking about. The site broke. Something in the code went wrong, and you looking at this page doesn’t do anything to fix it. There’s some good news, though: You viewing this page notifies us that something broke. So at least you’re doing your part to help get it fixed, right? Right? Yeah, I’m not buying it, either. If this message persists, head over to the forums and post about it. If you’re receiving this message while attempting to go to the forums to post about it, then... pssh, I don’t know, man. Or woman. I don’t mean to be gender-specific back there. Look, let’s just forget you ever saw this page or read this message, OK? Mistakes have been made, and we can all agree on that now.
Working for me now, the home page as well as my profile page and others. edit: the site is still pretty hit or miss, but there is a new bombcast up!
Oooooh, I just moved from my laptop to my desktop, and the Giant Bomb player remembered where I was in the video I was watching! (even when moving from regular streaming to HTML5).
I was unable to download the Bombcast either via the Downcast app I use on my iPod or on iTunes this morning. Also, the Roku channel isn't working right. It displays the video list as normal, but no videos will actually play.
Looks like their RSS feed is (or was, haven't checked it since earlier) borked. I had to manually download it this morning.
Yeah, so did I. I had to right click on their link, save the file, and drag it into iTunes LIKE SOME KIND OF BARBARIAN.
I *still* cannot log into my account. Tells me my username does not exist. Can't reset my password, because it tells me "you need to log in at least once to reset your password". Thought my profile had somehow deleted itself, but luckily it's still there.
How old is your profile? Because they said that they would have to go in and add newer subscribers by hand. I'm sure if you drop them a line they will fix it, anyway.
I don't know if anyone else uses the Roku app, but Jeff posted on his Tumblr that he expects that to be fixed next week.
I don't think you need the app anymore to view Giant Bomb on iOS. Can't you just use the web browser?
I am full of Giant Bomb tipz today! There is a third party app called Giant Bomb Video Buddy that lets you download or stream GB videos if you are a member. It's currently broken too, but the author updates fairly regularly so I'm sure he's on the case.
Jeff commented further on the Roku issue, which involves anything that uses the Giant Bomb API. I'm assuming that Video Buddy uses the same API.
The website is still pretty screwed up right now. I've been trying to edit the wiki a bit and it's all a big mess.
So apparently this new wannabe "imdb of videogames" site has been scraping GiantBomb.com for a few months http://www.huffingtonpost.com/drew-hendricks/gamewise-video-games_b_2671560.html http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/gen...e-co-importing-assets-from-giantbomb-1425724/ Not that HuffPo is a bastion of any integrity whatsoever but it's a bit silly to run a puff piece written by one of the people who made the site.
It is probably situations like this that make being part of a larger company like CBS Interactive beneficial.
Unless you count MobyGames, which is widely used and recognized and has been around for almost fifteen years. It's one of the top hits on a simple Google search for "game database." So, good job on doing your homework, there, HuffPo!
They do have it right about Goodreads - I have thought for a while that there should be a service like Goodreads for video games. I'd start it but I don't have the time. :)
Vinny quicklooked some more Sleeping Dogs DLC and once again it's massively entertaining http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-sleeping-dogs-wheels-of-fury-dlc/2300-7097/
MORE SLEEPING DOGS VINNY FUNTIME http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-sleeping-dogs-year-of-the-snake/2300-7137/ Around 14 minutes in the most magical bug in all of gaming happens.
I'm conflicted on these because I really do enjoy Sleeping Dogs and want to play the DLC fresh, but I don't get to them right away.
I know, and I've finished the main game, but this new DLC is a new mini-story with new story missions and I don't want *it* spoiled. To be clear, I'm conflicted on watching this QL and the last one (although I did cave and watch the last one). On the one hand, I want to go into this DLC fresh. On the other hand, Vinny punches people and drives cars into the ocean. And maybe even Picks Up The Purse.
He pretty much follows the DLC on this one but since it's Vinny insane shit happens constantly and it's hilarious.
That's pretty esoteric, but pretty awesome if true. Is "Patrick as a hot dog" something that exists on the site as an in-joke or piece of artwork? Is it being taken as a reference to his Twitter icon?
Oh man. You guys should watch the 2013 Giant Bomb PAX panel. Especially around the 40 minute mark. Trust me. I swear, I literally clasped my hands over my mouth and rocked back and forth in my seat for a full minute.
Well, since Hanacker already spoiled it... What context do you need? Dude gave Ryan a bottle labeled as "breast milk" during the panel. Watching Ryan's reaction this was funny enough, but then he suddenly pops the lid off and shoots it back. That was eye popping in itself, but I thought the resulting reaction from the rest of the panel and the room was particularly hysterical. As far as more context goes, I think they might have talked in a previous podcast about whether or not they would drink breast milk on a bet. Which probably prompted the dude to bring Ryan the bottle in the first place.
