So, what'd you get? I did not create this thread to brag about what I got. I'm too tired to remember anything except the tulip beer glasses from Quat (because I'm using one right now) and the Three Grumpy Cat Moon shirt from MIL, because it's fucking funny. (It's TWO-- TWO-- TWO MEMES IN ONE!!!)

Pictures of your loot are good, if you got anything cool. Merry Giftmas

From my mother I got two neat books on graphic design and typography, but the cool thing was the Qatsi trilogy on Blu-Ray. Now I wish I had a better sound system to enjoy these properly.

From my dad I got a nice Nikon 50mm prime lens. I was kind of surprised, because I have a Canon DSLR, but he let me know that his older Nikon 35mm film camera is on the way as well. Plus a case full of Time/Life photography books from 1970. These things are awesome resources for anyone into the technical aspects of photography.

Add to that my Happy Helium pillow from Angie and a fifth of rum from my boss - not a bad haul so far.

Socks and US currency from my mother.

Pretty home made stuff from the kids.

I got a few things so far, a new lighted case for my kindle, a water purifier for my faucet, a nice plastic floor mat for my computer chair, a pet bed for the kitties and a couple of rugs for my apartment.

The hauls have been pretty good so far. A tulip glass! Fantastic, as many beers should be drunk. A nifty fifty and a 35mm SLR on the way, and it's Nikon! Fuck yeah! I bought myself an F100 a few months ago, but I've been banned from bringing it to the family gathering tomorrow. 7 Wonders? What a fucking game! One of the funnest board games of recent years, one game and you'll feel like it's an extension of your board gaming mind! AND SOCKS! DAYYUM! Who doesn't love socks? Kids, that's who! But they smell, like smelly socks, because they don't appreciate getting new non-smelly socks!

I won't be receiving gifts for about another five hours. It'll probably mean I'll have been up all night, because despite spending an hour and a half lying in bed, I couldn't get to sleep. Maybe if I meditate on getting good gifts it will come true, and the time will pass faster.

Oh Yeah, all the socks were American and very colourful. One pair had the US flag and my daughter has decreed that I shall wear them at the onset of our US trip and again on the 4th of July...

We need the sock appreciation-graph again.

Nice haul. Shame about it being Nikon, though. Canon FTW!
    (nah, it's a cool gift)

Okay, let's see... I got three geeky T-shirts (including the grumpy cat one, which is going to be so dated three months from now but it'll always make me laugh). A hoodie with tentacles on it. A KISS Lego set. (Family joke going back to when I was four years old.) Yarn. A book on yarn. A wallet. And a DVD of a ballet I wanted to see.

I bought my sister a plushie brain cell. She died laughing. It was awesome.

We scaled things back this year as we've had a lot of expenses with the wedding and all. I got a cute and dangerous bracelet, a nice blouse, a pair of nifty folding Persol sunglasses and a 35mm film scanner. I'm so thankful for the last one as I lost most of my photographic archive when our storage unit was flooded. I managed to salvage the negatives. Now I'm hopeful to recover them.

    Merry Christmas, every one.

My haul includes clothes, my favourite beer, a bottle of champagne (for NYE) a hundred yoyos and a wallet from my aunt which is great because I need a new wallet. Also, the hoody I got is XL, where previously I would have needed XXL. This is a damn good thing, and my sister says it looks good on me.

Slightly disappointed I didn't even get any uni-sex presents, but I guess that's hoping a bit too much.

Also, my brother gets away with doing so fucking little in presents it's unreal. He got me a half slab of the second shittest beer it's possible to get, and a six pack of Doritos. If anyone else gave someone something like that there'd be murder, but with him it's just taken as a given.

My kid got his first big Playmobil set, and might well spend the entire day playing with it:

His baby sister got a Playmobil-for-babies set to help reduce jealousy, and she is the happiest tiny lady possible.

We also had the usual assortment of books and jewelry, including an awesome heart-in-a-jar necklace I found for my wife:

All told, it's been a great morning.

I didn't get anything today, but over the weeks (months) I've received the following:

Upgrade from DS to 3DS thanks to hubby, though that was in October
Hilariously ugly cat throw blanket from mom
A visit by my dad, who brought his girlfriend and my brother with him
A gift card from my mother-in-law, which has been used so far to purchase crochet supplies and Saints Row 3
A box of assorted chocolates from the company christmas party
A Big Bang Theory bobblehead set also from the xmas party, which will be re-gifted to my dad because we're not really fans of the show

Today will be spent baking muffins and miniature pies for this weekend, followed by packing everything left in the kitchen since that will conclude my cooking for the next couple of weeks. Once the laundry is finished, we'll be packing spare linens and clothes.

In that pic is a lightsaber umbrella (Darth Vader's, of course), a Mass Effect N7 tee, and a Red/Blu Team Fortress 2 coffee mug.

My wife also donated a llama in my name to a family in Nicaragua (seriously) which also got me a cool llama tee shirt. And I got a Zojirushi thermos, but all the instructions are in Japanese so I can't quite figure it out. And my wife and I had bought each other new phones earlier in the month. And my new car was kind of a Christmas gift.

We got ants in the kitchen for Christmas! Lots and lots and lots of ants. A few thousand last night, and surprise! a few thousand more this morning! Ants on the counter! Ants on the ceiling! With extra bonus ants in unexpected cabinets where they have never been before.

Pretty shitty present if you ask me. FU Mother Nature. Thankfully we're not hosting anyone and our assignment to bring today is salad so we don't need a lot of kitchen time.

Also some nice gifts from the family, the biggie being a 10x14ish new rug from MIL. Too big to get in the car, so it's a puzzlement how we will get it home. Also a puzzlement where to put it, as we have two rugs that we like in the two obvious rug places. And being rolled up, I have no idea what it looks like. But she has great taste, so I'm sure it will be fantastic.

Yeah, I can't help but think Playmobil got cooler since I was a kid.

This thing has a working drawbridge, trapdoors, a section of castle wall that can bust in from siege machines, a cannon that launches plastic bolts surprisingly far, and so on and so forth.

My mom tells me that the woman at the toy store warned her that an adult was going to have to put the castle together and that it'd take a long time, but honestly I think I had as much fun putting the damn thing together with him as he did playing with it.

"Dad, help me put up the drawbridge so the knights are safe from the dragon!"

Absolutely. In my day they were Lego for the slow kids, but that looks amazing.

Reading that I literally thought, "If Gabe is good, I can download this toy from Steam."

This is one of the few reasons I want kids. And that look of awe on their faces as you put their toy together. Then them getting bored and walking away but you still determined in your putting togetherness. Then them coming back looking tired and bored asking "is it ready" and you still screwdriving away with wrenches. Then them going to bed but you labouring on through the night determined. Then having it made but the kids have gone to bed so you feebly play with it before realising you have no imagination before you go to bed and wake them up early the next day thinking, "I wish it was Christmas day again!" :D

TELL THEM KNIGHTS TO GET THE ARCHERS TO THE TOWERS AND WE CAN SAP AWAY AT HIS SCALY HIDE!

Basically I asked me to get button down shirts for me from L.L. Bean. I like their styles and the shirts are very comfortable. After I lost 30 lbs and went from an L to an M shirt I bought a bunch of cheap crap shirts from Target to tide me over but I think I can now donate most of them. :D

From my father $175 and a calendar featuring black and white photos he took when I was growing up.
From my roommate a bottle of rum.
From my mother some used magazines and some local native art.
From my mothers boyfriend a floor lamp.

My girlfriend gave me the best present ever; an all expenses paid visit to Maemo, Oslo best (and one of Europes hottest) restaurants at the moment. They are every bit as good as Noma in Copenhagen and got two stars in Guide Michelin after only being open for a year. I have been desperately trying to get a table myself for months, but they only have 8 tables and it is almost impossible to find a free slot. I can't wait for the 22. of January!

I haven't gotten any family Xmas stuff yet. It's probably at the PO, but I'm out of town and have been for a week. I pretty much just get money though....it's usually a decent amount. 500 from my grandparents alone, usually. The others are considerably less, but all told I probably get about 800 or so. My girlfriend got me a code where I can get a custom skin for my 360 controller. That's pretty cool, but I haven't used it yet. Her dad got me a 25 dollar gift card to Applebees (which I like!) and some lotto tickets. That was decent of him. Her mom got me some nice winter gloves, which is handy since it will snow about 8 inches tomorrow here in Cleveland apparently. My SS stuff can be seen in that thread.

Thanks! I personally got them a Magic: The Gathering card box organizer (Comes with labels and dividers and a few boosters), a two player battle pack (They are twins, after all), and some Halo mega blocks drop pods.

They got a bunch of LotR lego stuff that they didn't want to build, so they let me build it. Also, metric fuck-ton of nerf. I'm currently coddling the Barrel Break, which is exactly what it sounds like; a nerf sawed off shotgun.

In keeping with the theme of "wooden objects that can be used as weapons" (see: Omniscia 's SS present also) I got a walking stick. It's made out of oak, and is pretty cool. It's custom made for my height/weight, too!
I also got $275 worth of amazon gift certificates, a cool timex watch, a backup battery for my phone, and some hiking books, and a copy of Witcher 2. All in all, a pretty great haul. :)

Other stuff I got was a new rolling suitcase, a Season 2 preorder of Game of Thrones, the LEGO Seattle Space Needle set, two tickets to a They Might Be Giants concert, and a variety of nice shirts.

I also got a seriously huge shipment of assorted Omaha meats and steak knives from my other aunt, aka Hawkeye's mom. It beats out the bottle of The Audacity of Hops for most delicious present.
