Thanks, doesn't hurt now, but did hurt quite a bit at the time. Mostly its the crazy amount of gauze + splint they have me wrap it in, along with the inability to touch type that bug me now. (The splint is mostly unnecessary, just to protect myself from bumping the tip onto things.)
I promise this isn't about my stomach flu wheee~ Over the past... year or two? I've started to get these freckles (moles?) on my hands. Not on the backs, but on the fingers right about where the prints start. I figured it was a really strange place to have so much pigment, but since there's no raised skin I wasn't sure if it was something to be concerned about. Right now I only have two, one showed up last May and has grown to "full size" (about the same size as all the rest of my spots) and the other one cropped up sometime in June or July 2011. Is this work going in for a melanoma screening or do I just have funky pigment genetics?
On the lower side of the fingers? That's strange... I'd see a dermatologist about it, just to be sure.
Mid-20's, and no. I have had, however, one doctor comment on some of my moles before, but once they come in they generally don't change after that. The moles he pointed out (one on my sternum, the other on my ear) happened to be ones I've had since grade school, so he told me not to worry as long as they didn't change.
That's pretty much what I thought. PHOTO EVIDENCE (just in case I didn't explain it well) Oh, uhh, ignore the gash on my left hand. Pinched myself on a guitar stand, it's healing up fine and looks worse than it is.
I have the same thing, minor nevi on the palms of hands/soles of feet. Nothing really abnormal about it.
Arg! Healing up, so took my splint and gauze off, down to just these weird sticky strips over my finger tip that are holding all the various bits of flesh together. And I just accidentally attempted to use the finger for typing. Ow.
I had interesting talks with my psychiatrist and therapist today. I'm cross-posting this from my blog, because why not. Since I'm sure most of you don't want to read about my reproductive system...
Weirdest thing happened last night. I was laying in bed, getting ready to fall asleep, when I suddenly felt really sick to my stomach, like I was going to vomit. Barely just made it to the bedroom garbage can in time. I've been having problems with nausea, but that was just fucking strange. I didn't have anything unusual to eat, the two beers I'd had were like six hours before that so it couldn't have been from those... Ugh. I was supposed to go to the doctor today, but ironically was too nauseous to be in a car. Bleah.
Anyone have any experience getting used to a CPAP device? I've had one for a month to treat sleep apnea, and even the basic nasal plug sucks. It's a struggle to keep it in place for even four or five hours. My doctor told me he has to inform the province due to the high correlation of sleep apneas and car accidents - four to seven times more likely to get into one, yay. If I can't get used to the accursed thing they'll suspend my driver's license, which will make me an unemployed rural shut-in fast.
Sleep apnea disrupts sleep and makes it less restful, to the point that you never really feel rested if it's bad enough. I imagine the increased likelihood of car accidents is a result of drowsy drivers momentarily dozing off at the wheel. Incidentally, it's a good idea to have sleep apnea treated even if you don't drive; it carries a significantly increased risk for high blood pressure and heart disease/attack. Even if the CPAP machine isn't terribly comfortable (I don't actually know; I haven't used one), you'll probably feel a lot better in general once you start using it.
Oh, another thought on why sleep apnea has an increased rate of car accidents has to do with driving when merely tired, not even necessarily drowsy. I read that there was a study that found that not getting enough sleep can delay your reaction times as much as being drunk. So yeah.
Yeah, it's not a good thing. If I can't get it controlled I'm going to have to switch back to the bus into work even if they leave my license alone, as being drowsy on the road is scary stuff. I'm forcing myself to keep using the CPAP though, and I feel considerably better today. It's nice to not feel sedated all day long. Getting a good night's sleep is one of those things you really start to appreciate after spending time in a semi-delirious haze due to exhaustion.
Seriously. Nothing like realizing that that blink lasted juuuust a bit too long and OH SHIT WHY AM I IN THE SHOULDER
Tonight: sleep lab. Tomorrow: doctor (re: thyroid) and ultrasound (re: PCOS). Thursday: bloodwork (also re: PCOS and thyroid). Friday: dentist (maybe). Siiiiiigh.
Update from here: Still swollen, now slightly discoloured, but the discolouration doesn't blanch when poked at. Still doesn't hurt - in fact, it's feeling a little numb. It's probably just a deep bruise or something, but I had a dream that my hand was all kinds of necrotic and burst open and leaked pus and rotting flesh all over the place, which didn't help.
