It doesn't even end, it just rolls over it's most significant increment, the baktun, to 13. I'm not aware of the world having ended 12 times in the last 2500 years or so.

It did start at the last 13 baktun, though. It's just that this piktun is a cycle of 20 baktun, cos the Maya liked to switch their shit up. Nope. The world won't really end until October in 4772. And heck, by then we'll all have been murdered by the blood drinking Jew lizards who will then deplete the world of its orgone before rocketing back to their Jewtopia in the stars.

Why just today?

It's a chestnut thrown out by the religious right that since we don't have state-mandated prayer in schools and government institutions, that God has withdrawn the protection that he provided for the past 200+ years of American history when nothing bad happened.

I saw a nice thing the other day (on FB actually) that said something like, "God didn't strike down America when millions of Indians were being murdered, or when millions of slaves were abused and killed, but God's going to make America suffer NOW because we are allowing gay marriage?" Or something like that. I liked it.

To be fair, OT God is totally cool with slavery and genocide so that view is at least internally consistent.

Yet another good reason to be an atheist...

hahaha. I'm glad I read that when I was younger; as much as it influenced me from ca. ages 17-22, me at age 33 appreciates just how zany it is!

Me, age 22, on my first reading of it: "This woman was a genius!"

Me, age 22.5 (six months later): "That woman was a whack job! WTF was I thinking?!"

The only reaction I had was "Fuck me, these speeches go on forevzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

I am very tempted to post on FB that I am going to unfriend the next person who posts or shares that the magical solution to school shootings is "putting prayer back in schools."

I doubt most would see that as much of a threat, but I'm sure they'd pray for me.

Don't risk it. With all that prayer, it may have undesirable side effects.

There's so much wrong with this shit, and familial bonds make me shut my mouth.

Let me get this straight: we should under no circumstances give money to schools so that they can do a proper job of educating Our Nation's Children, thereby forestalling America's descent into irrelevancy; we should, however, give money to schools for guns, ammo, and SWAT training.
