He's the assistant director at the Matsumoto private hospital.

(This seems to be a description of his physical attributes.)
He has stubble and wears a worn out doctor's coat. He's a heavy smoker.

(This seems to be a description of his personality attributes.)
While having a wise disposition, this delinquent doctor likes to tease Protag-chan. However, his skill appears to be pretty good.

Bartender at the Dans un rêve jazz bar.

Saeki (another LI) often visits this bartender’s bar. When it’s time to serve customers he uses standard polite language, in the back he uses a Kansai dialect and his “Do”-style speech shows.
(That last sentence is really weird. I guess the gist is that he speaks normally in front of customers but has a Kansai accent when away from them.)

Hmm, it doesn't seem to say much about his personality unlike the other profile.
Is the attitude here that "he has a kansai accent why do you need to know anything else?!" Is there an attitude like that for kansai accents?

From what I can gather, there seems to be a stereotype related to people from the Kansai and Osaka regions, yeah. The only one I know is the Osaka one, though. THEY'RE ALL CLOUD CUCKOOLANDERS. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

I am also very, very pleased with these translations.

Shotaru Hayama

Since Protag-chan was very young, this policeman has watched over her existence like an older brother. She was often lost as a child, so he teases Protag-chan by calling her "Stray Child".
Compared to his age, his speech and conduct is very youthful.

(I'm guessing that last sentence is saying that he's an active person. That's good to know since he's a policeman.)
("Stray Child" equals 迷子ちゃん in case you decide to play even if you don't understand what's being said. But hey, chances are if he's using that he's being playful?)

DEFINITELY GOING FOR HIM FIRST, NOW!

...you know, Shima personality doesn't seem to match the idea I had of him, so now I feel better about not being able to play this game.

I once read that people from Kyoto are supposed to talk in a particular way who sounds more gentle and soft. But they're probably going for the "funny charming fellow from Osaka" type that Randissimo mentioned, because they say that he talks politely with the customers.
Unless they meant that he speaks standard japanese with customers, but that seems less likely.

So I'm translating the book company guy and that last sentence is kicking my ass.
I need to start studying/learning again. This is so pathetic.

Actually, while I recall the word 'polite' being in there I think it was saying that he spoke standard Japanese with customers. As I've said, these translations are extremely suspect. ;D
Now that I've thought of it a bit more, I wonder if they are going for a 'gentle ol' country boy who let's his accent hang loose in familiar company' kind of deal?

So, I've learned how to take pictures on my android. Because of that, I am sort of hijacking this thread to show you guys what I've seen. Dunno if I can really do any good since I'll just be pointing out basics (and I don't know Japanese), but damnit I'll at least pretend I'm useful.

If any of you are playing along at home and have the game, allow me to impart you with what very little I've figured out.
Once you pick a guy out, this becomes your main page (with the guy of you choosing being your 'target')

Lots of buttons, I know. But don't be intimated - most of it is pretty easy to figure out. Just click around, and you can find interesting this like:

To get to the actual game, you click the top left button (with the odd pieces of paper), which takes you to the main screen

I should probably mention now that the story is longer than it looks. Those chapters? Divided into stories. One of each character, then a 'main story'. I have no idea what I'm getting into.
Anyway, the main story was filled out for me. But here's something I didn't realize before (and right now it is still a theory, but see that 0/5 in that last picture. I think can only play 5 times a day/hour/what have you (still figuring this out)
When I try to play a guy's story, it will show this:

Either button helpfully takes you to the shop, where I think you can buy more turns with real life money.

So many tickets, I want them all.
Anyway, what I've seen of the story, it seems that the phone will vibrate every so often- I'm guessing that's when protag faints?
This guy shows up in the main story, part 1. Childhood friend?


And... that's the long and short of it, until I get more turns (and find out how they work)

While having a soft manner and a polite way of speaking, this gentleman has many fans inside and outside the company.
Since he was Protag-chan’s father’s former junior, he openly cares for Protag-chan like a daughter, he takes the trouble to help her.

(So that last sentence...yeah. I'm pretty sure that's what it means. It wasn't so bad after I stopped being a dodo bird and remembered to pay attention to punctuation. It's there for a reason, Rot.)


Oh, Brimney maybe you should consider making an LP?
We've had other people fumble through not-quite-translated games. Between hilarious misunderstandings and the handful of people around here that can read Japanese, we usually have a pretty good time.

Honestly, there are way too many awesome otome games that have never been (and probably never will be) translated. Honestly, this cute Jii-chan game looks like it would be promising in at least some sense. It's a shame that we can't just have one universal language for everyone to speak...
