The Thread Where You Carefully Pose Your Character and Take a Picture and Post It

Both games are.

It certainly evokes a cel shading style, but is it literally cell shaded? I thought cell shading was mostly a lighting technique, where a lot of the cartoon/comic look in Borderlands--excepting the black outlines--seems to be texture work.

No idea, but the contributors at Wikipedia apparently hate my spelling of the term.

Nute and I are playing Guild Wars 2, and revived our original WoW characters. We don't play anywhere near the same time, though, so whenever we meet up, it goes... well, this is hardly unusual.



The rules of making Leon -- I have made Leonidas Stoutmantle in every game that lets you make a character -- are long hair, goofy in-game mannerisms, and the worst mustache the game allows.



In Guild Wars 2, this means I am the backup bass player for a Metallica cover band.

I am enjoying Saints Row.

My most beloved game character was The Unending Sickness in City of Villains. The man born with a nuclear heart. Nobody else around him could understand the pain of radiation sickness. So he would show it to them. With lasers from his eyes.



Spoilered for length:

I would have said he's retired, but as City Of Villains has actually shut down now, I guess he's finally let death catch up with him.

Edit: Shit. A friend once did a digital painting of Sickness for me, but I think I've lost it.

I mentioned I used to play with a regular group in City Of Villains.



One of my fondest memories of the game was one October when we'd been playing the same characters together for about a year. Someone suggested we put on costumes for halloween. "But we're supervillains!" was the objection "What could we dress up as that would be scarier than us?"

And so:



There followed an amusing couple of weeks where we would also imitate each other on teamspeak and in combat.
"I'm the tank now, right?" said Unending Sickness, the squishy corruptor, "That means I need to rush ahead and run in while you guys are still resting, right? Chaaarge!"

When Murderface goes "Angry Victorian", she gets summoned.



In contrast, trying to blend with the locals gets her nowhere.



Living the soul level one life isn't easy.

Fawkes is not precisely my character but he is my dear friend and companion, and my travels in the wasteland would not be half as entertaining without him along. In fact, I think I would have enjoyed New Vegas a lot more if I had found a Fawkes there.

I really, really want a game with a character creation system that's like EVE's but with, y'know, actual ingame character interaction.

Who then, with a bit of tweaking of body language, lighting and expression, can turn out like this:

And then see them move and interact in the actual game.

Failing that, though... is there a standalone character creation/portrait thing for EVE that doesn't require an active account? I love the character creation, but find the actual game itself dull the point of pain.

(Yes I like making pretty women in computer games and even sometimes think up elabourate and fleshed-out backstories for them even though I never roleplay them and... shut up.)

That's from Eve? Astonishingly good for a game where the action is all in spaceships.

That's because CCP were expanding into also making a new vampires MMO, and were using that work as an opportunity to add some people-walking-about tech to Eve. I think that all may have been put on hold after the player riots about the spaceship side being neglected.

Ah, that sort of synergy makes sense.

In honour of the passing of the first mostly-modern MMO that I ever played (and then stopped playing), characters I created in the early days of City of Heroes. (How early? Well, let's just say that I never experienced the Diminishing Enhancement Returns patch.) Behold, the League of People Who Can Never Team Up Because They're On The Same Account. Gooseberry, my Gunslinger with a Heart of Gold in The Old Republic. I found other moddable guns, but they were too small. She's part of the "Pie" legacy. I wanted "Tart", but that was apparently too risqué.



Darth Kohlrabi, Forcewalker. To quote Lum, every answer is Force Lightning, and I forgot the question. I had a more dramatic closeup, but I wanted to show off how the Imperial Dancer Pants oddly show less skin than the Republic equivalent, and therefore how combining them with a more conventional top made for an outfit that was hopefully sexy without being sexist. (So why did I take the screenshot in a zone filled with dancing slave girls? Hey, look! Tim Schafer!)



My Dragon Age archer, Mojito with her "Bar brawl? What bar brawl?" expression. Please, this supposed to be a happy tavern. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.



Finally, in World of WarCraft, I took this shot during last year's Love Is In The Air event (Valentine's Day), which coincided with the Lunar Festival. When I realized that decorations for both appeared at the same time, I decided to try getting a screenshot with rewards from as many different holidays as possible while using the "flower trail" reward I got from a free CCG booster in the Cataclysm Collector's Edition. It wasn't until later that I realized I messed up: I intended to wear a Noblegarden dress, but accidentally grabbed the Elegant Red Dress from Love Is In The Air. (Total holiday count: 5. And it could have been more...)
