All right, folks-- let's do this. I just played this series for the first time YESTERDAY, and I'm juuust about to make it through my first run, and holy hell, it is amazing. I'm going to make this first post very brief, but I just wanted to announce my upcoming LP of The Walking Dead! I'm going to try and figure out how to do this so that it'll be fun and very interactive for everyone. As some of you might know, this is a game where the various moral quandaries you face, as well as the decisions you make, the alliances you form, etc, matter HUGELY. However, the game moves very fast, and you're usually only given a matter of second to make various choices. So there'll be a LOT of voting for everyone, but I'm going to try to figure out how to do it so it will only come down to the more major decisions. Anyway, enough rambling for now. I'll just ask that we all decide how we're going to play our main character. Lee Everett is on his way to prison when we begin the game, although we aren't given the full story, just hints as to what went down. Beforehand, though, he was a distinguished university professor. That's basically all we know. SO. What kind of man is Lee Everett? I'm going to go ahead and give three "zombie invasion" personality types for everyone to choose from, and then we'll have a vote. Is he... A. Cool-headed, rational, and unafraid to make difficult decisions, though he may be considered cold B. Aggressive, foul-mouthed and easily provoked, but gets shit DONE, dammit OR C. Kind-hearted and gentle, but can be TOO empathetic when it comes down to the wire Let's do this, people!
IT'S THE WALKING DEAD. YES. I APPLAUD YOU MA'AM. Well. I'm torn between A and C... Hmm... Let's go with A.
Oh man oh man, I know. Let's get ready for extremely disturbing situations, dark humor, and ALL OF THE FEELS.
THIS GAAAAAAAAME. Can I change my vote to C? I remembered certain events and.... Yeah. I'm going with C.
Are your name and avatar a reference to the Lucasarts game Loom? If so, AWESOME! I already like you based on your excellent taste! I'm voting for A or C.
You're darn right they are! I was absolutely addicted to LucasArts games as a kid, and, well, clearly that adventure game obsession hasn't gone anywhere! Telltale does some pretty awesome stuff, if you ask me.
They do! To me, though, Loom was kind of a once in a lifetime experience. No other adventure game has come close to that beauty or artistry, for me. Or melancholy.
Oh, I love this game so much. I've already watched people play this, but couldn't play it myself. I tried to borrow it from a friend, but it didn't work in my computer D= I really need a new video card thingy. EDIT - Also, I vote for badass Lee. I mean, B.
My vote is for Lee who is C. I think the game is much more feely if Lee is the guy who is always trying to do the Right Thing and stay civilized and compassionate while the world is going to hell in a handbasket.
I liked how Lee's role evolved throughout the game. I had wildly different conversation styles depending on whom I spoke to. An initial vote to determine Lee's personality might not capture that transformation of character (which starts pretty early on). Perhaps let the audience make the first couple choices on their own, then take the reins as his personality becomes more defined? The Walking Dead really could use a lot of summary. Each episode being a game unto itself, we could eaasily hit page twenty before wrapping up the first episode otherwise.
Can't we make him C, but not so C as to be idiotic in certain answers? Please? Like a Ca. If I have to clearly choose a letter, though, I'll go for C. Because playing Lee as a dick feels like being slapped on every decision you make.
Oh, all right, then-- it's clear that everybody seems to want me to play Lee as straight as possible (which is the way I did it, let me tell you!)-- empathetic, while also rational. I thought you Broken Forumers might have wanted a more extreme Lee, perhaps, but I agree, that in order to get the most out of the game, we allow him to evolve naturally as the story progresses. Oh, the feels we shall have, people! (I am currently experimenting a bit here and replaying the game to check out alternative dialogue options and routes... But as soon as I'm done with that stuff, we shall begin.)
Congratulation on chossing to LP this game! I loved it, altought... But anyway this game has a very well written story and well defined characters, that you istantly love or hate. Just a question: how do you plan to screenshot the game, since many events happen in a matter of seconds?
I agree with you as far as the spoiler, but alas, I do think it would have been absolutely impossible to program otherwise! In any case... I will probably use some kind of program, and set up a hot key to snap screenshots with as I go, and then sort through them to find the usable ones. And if I fail to grab 'em, eh, I'll just go back to where I was and try again!
I vote for Silent Lee. I know that's not a listed option but I was always curious how the game plays out like that. So anyway, I'll go against the grain and vote B. Bwahaha.
