I suspect this loss might be because I've been vibrating all night (shut up pervs) from too much caffeine...

I weighed myself this morning. I hit 120kg exactly. So I'm pretty pleased with myself.

I'm updating, but not after my physical. Thanks to the local corporate wrangling between the two major health providers and Anthem insurance, apparently my physician is no longer in my network. Yeah, great.

Anyway, I've lost about 10lbs, going by my Thanksgiving weigh-in at my mom's. I wouldn't say that I've been very strict about adhering to the 17 days. I've definitely fallen off the wagon on the weekend when my refrigerator gave up the ghost. Then there was Thanksgiving, though we'd scaled back in an attempt to avoid the usual excess. I'm back on, starting for the next week on the first cycle so as to get rid of the Thanksgiving weight gain. Then I'll spend the next couple of weeks on the second cycle. If I can lose a total of 15lbs before the Christmas holidays, I'll count this as a real win.

My very overweight sister, meanwhile, has lost over 22 lbs. She's ecstatic. I have not seen her this happy in years. She's typically rejected any kind of diet without a second thought. This time, though, she was scared into doing something about her weight. Her bloodwork indicated that she may have been at risk for fatty liver disease. As a result, she decided to lose weight, and the nurse at the doctor's office told her that, since she loved vegetables, she'd probably do okay on this diet. She's now like a religious convert. This is the first time she's ever seen real weight loss, and I'm thrilled that she wants to stick with the diet until she meets her goals. She knows that Christmas is going to be a diet disaster, but she did watch what she ate over Thanksgiving. I suspect she'll be very abstemious over Christmas/New Year's.

At any rate, I'm happy all the way around (which isn't quite as far as it used to be).

I exercised this morning, and I've been tracking my food today. I'm focusing on the fact that I look more masculine when my face is thinner -- to the point that I regularly got called "sir" by waitresses and clerks even when I had long hair -- and the only way to get my face thinner is to lose weight. (Or plastic surgery, but ew.)

So, I dropped a bottle on my foot yesterday, leaving a deep bruise. I basically stayed off my feet for the rest of the day and iced it, but it looks like no hike today, and no walking or other exercise, just to be on the safe side.

Which bums me out, this is the first day I haven't done any exercise in months.

I messed up today. My daughter's school is organising a "World Food Day" for which we decided to make chocolate-biscuit-marshmallow thingies, and I ended up stuffing my face with biscuits and chocolate. Yummy, delicious biscuits and chocolate.
It's the first time I really messed up with this diet/lifestyle change. Ah well, tomorrow will be a better day.

It is raining and stormy (as much as it gets here in LA) and all my 2X sweaters are too big!! Woot! Time to toss 'em and go shopping.

And I think the 3 pound uptick that hit me over the holiday should be gone for my weigh in tomorrow. Man butter, cream and generally rich foods even in moderation hit you hard!

We just had some family photos taken, so I actually have a decent "after" photo to show off. I dug back to my honeymoon photos to find a solid "before" shot. This was almost nine years ago.

Well, I have definitely recovered from Thanksgiving, lost 3.6 pounds this week for a total of 85 pounds lost now. I now weigh 163.4 pounds.

I assume that a chunk of that is reversal of what was probably a bunch of water weight the previous week, what with Thanksgiving and all.

So, all my paranoia about missing a day of exercise was for naught.
  26. ceolstan I Pretty Much Live Here

I'm getting a scale today so I can stay on top of the weight loss. Now that I'm fitting into a size smaller, I want to see what I'm weighing.

That said, I would also like to smack my spouse. He decided to go pick up some of the brats he likes for the weekend meals (and which I've not been eating, since I'm low fat), and he called to ask what else he could get. I answered, "Just brats. I'm watching what I eat, so I'm getting some chicken for the grill." He asked if I'd like a steak. I answered no, I'm watching what I eat. Just brats. Then he asked about crab cakes (nutritional disaster for diets). Again, I told him no thanks, and repeated the reasons. Yes, he came back with a steak for me and crab cakes.

    WTF?

I've seen the diet of friends and family sabotaged by a spouse/SO who was not on the same page as they were with regards to their goals and needs. It's important for him to realize that he's making your job harder by not listening to you, and that you need his support and understanding to do what you got to do.

So after a year of inconsistent attempts at weight loss (ten off, ten back on, repeat ad infinitum), I had another "come to Jesus" moment when I looked at the results from my last blood test.

HDL Cholesterol: 65 (this is good)
LDL Cholesterol: 195 (this is very bad)
Triglycerides: 400 (this is also very bad)

This morning I was kvetching with a co-worker about the numbers, and my boss decided to step in with a bit of an intervention. He's 30 years older than me, and roughly the same build at about 3" shorter. In the last four months, he's gone from around 245 (where I'm at now) to around 205 and managed to keep it off. My goal is to sit at around 210 (any less than that and I would suffer Strength penalties and since I need to keep my STR above 16 for the 10% XP bonus...) while getting my body fat percentage/cholesterol levels down to healthy levels. He stepped in and made me a challenge. If I can reach my goal by the end of June and keep to it through the end of July, then he's putting up $200 cash of his own money as an incentive.

If I can't, or if I backslide - then I'm stuck wearing a shirt-and-tie for the rest of 2013, with no Casual Fridays.

I think I'm going to need to hang a starched shirt and boring tie on the back of my office door as motivation. Succeed, or become a drone!

Oops, I forgot to report back here this weekend.
After not weighing in for 4 weeks I stood on the scale this weekend. I lost 3 pounds, which isn't as much as I had hoped for, but it's a loss! I did my usual conversions since I weigh in kilo, but most of my friends on MFP weigh in pounds or stone, and I found out I'm now officially below 200 pounds. Yay me!

I've got about 3 more pounds to lose before my BMI is "overweight" rather then "obese", I'm hoping to get there before Christmas, or at least the end of the year. However, with the holidays just around the corner and the whole family down with a nasty cold that might not happen...

Can't really go by my weight right now because I'm bloated and gross, but I think maybe I lost weight? I don't know.

    Still hate jeans, though.

EDIT: I think I might just walk all the way to physical therapy today, actually. I have a good two hours and 30 minutes to walk four miles. Should be enough.

Dropped another 2lb this week. I am now below 12 stone which was my original target, but I have brought some target trousers that still don't fit, and so the epic battle continues. I'm going to up my calories again this weekend though.
A few people at work have started commenting on my weight now which is quite cool.
  34. Athryn Despondent Fancybear

Down only 0.6 pounds this week, but I'll take it, I'm not too worried about some of the swings between weight lost.

What does bug me somewhat is I'm starting to run into loose skin issues. I have heard about how some people end up regaining their weight because they can't handle their bodies at the lower weight, and I can somewhat understand this -- some of the places I have loose skin feel incredibly unattractive to me. I do think I'd rather have the loose skin and feeling better than the fatness and the general shittiness I felt before.

It is upsetting, especially since you've been working so hard to get where you are. You deserve a smashing body for that! You're still young enough that your skin has plenty of elasticity, so it might just take a while but it might shrink to fit again.
