Getting chasing angie isn't too hard, for every 'real' post you make, post a cat picture to either the gif, image macro, or funny/clever pictures thread.

Well I'll have you know that I got Chasing Angie the hard way: by calling someone a piece of shit in Santorum.

As it turns out, I got mine by revealing my crippling board game hoarding problem. Wasn't expecting that option.

Pretty sure I got mine partially from bitching about PETA in one of the LP threads. It was cathartic and rewarding!

I don't know how I got mine. And now I don't know why I post here anymore. Chasing Chasing Angie kept me going, but chasing Angie is just unrealistic.

It warms my heart a little bit when someone posts something painfully unfunny to one of the lulz threads and it has no likes. Or at least likes only from other painfully unfunny people.

I just want to say that I really love this forum.

Roughly two years ago I had joined another forum. I thought I had joined a place full of people like-minded enough to get along yet different enough to generate interesting discussion. Some of the undertones in threads bothered me a bit, but being around and talking to strangers in RL bothers me, so I didn't think much of it. I tried to stick it through while ignoring things that bothered me. It took me a while to realize I had entered a toxic environment filled with people who believed that certain things gave them leave to be a complete assholes. I finally left and decided that forums weren't for me.

About a year ago my best friend recommended that I check out Angie Gallant's Hatoful Boyfriend LP, saying something along the lines of "This is how LPs should be" (we had been discussing video LPs) and "It's about dating pigeons." I was a bit leery when I realized it was part of a forum but reading people's reactions made me think this place wasn't so bad.

The longer I'm here the better this place seems to get. I've read so many posts where people say variations of, "I could never admit this on the other forum I post on." I can't help but think the same. If some of the things I've seen posted here were ever on my old forum they would have been torn to pieces. I think it's so special that this place has become such a safe haven for so many individuals when the internet (and RL) can be such an ugly place.

There's been disagreements, drama, and dickish behavior but overall I have to say this is a swell group of folks. I'm glad that I sucked up the courage to press "Post Reply" for the first time. I've yet to regret coming here and with as much as I've learned from this motley mash of people I don't think I ever will. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch in my life and I'm glad I have this place to go to at the end of the day. (Or whatever bizarre time I'm awake.)

But Lum, he doesn't care. In fact, he has an entire blog partially dedicated to telling everyone in painful detail how much he doesn't care.

Back when people were trying to explain all of the arbitrary litmus tests that they claim they use to decide someone is a good faith poster, it occurred to me that I'm glad that there's room for tyrannical prerogative followed with a leper colony citation in bans. Because it's not really that you say odious things *and talk about games that makes you better as a poster than someone who just says odious things, and it matters that the undefinable qualities that make someone a toxic personality can be treated as a discretionary matter.

In other words, LK is glad Lum gets to decide unilaterally who's an asshole, even if that person sometimes posts something worthwhile about games.

Oh thanks, I remember looking at that thread before, but didn't put two and two together. I miss not being able to see what banned posters have posted. Their profile page is always unavailable, so no easy way to find all their posts.

Yeah some of them used to be viewable before, not sure what happened since then. Fortunately, search here works great, if you search by poster.

I'll have to try that, Qt3 taught me not to do that, since it's search is not only slow, but also terrible. Like Sharepoint.

I like that even despite having liked so many lovely things, people are still appreciative of this "puck passing" or like the wavelength trebling of our mutually acknowledged relationship thingy. I like giving out likes more'n receiving them, for this purpose; that they are raised to degrees.

Google is always pretty reliable. Just preface your search with "site:brokenforum.com". For example, "site:brokenforum.com raife booby -jerkbags", will get you posts with both terms (or very close to them), but will exclude posts that include "jerkbags". If you want to search for a specific phrase, you can use "site:brokenforum.com "raife's booby"", and you'll only get results that contain an exact match with what you put in quotes.

I can honestly say I've become a better person because of the time I've spent here. Not a statement I can make freely about most places on the internet.
