    Dear ________:

Thank you very much for the suggestion; unfortunately, I regret that due to the volume of responses to my posts, I cannot personally reply to every suggestion I receive, and must resort to canned replies when circumstances demand (e.g. times of heavy reply volume, Thursdays, when the respondent completely misses the fucking point, religious holidays, etc etc etc).

    Sincerely,

Dear Talisker (if that's your real name):

Thank you very much for the reply; unfortunately, I regret that when the respondent completely misses the fucking point (or an error of a similar nature occurs) I must withhold the requisite Likes/Feels/Huggles/Dating Advice. I'm sure you understand.

I've read that name as "Serek Dmart" so many times that it now looks wrong when I see it spelled correctly.

I got an e-mail from my boss, and I instinctively went to the bottom to look for the "Like" button to let him know that I read it and understood it. It was not there, and now I don't know what to do...

It's easy: Create a sock puppet for your boss, post the email somewhere in January, then like it.

I love that I can talk about feminism and gay rights here without getting drowned by a thousand angry voices demanding to know why they should give a shit! Holy fuck is that a welcome change from our previous community. Honestly I mainly just love y'all in general. <3

Thing I love about being broken: today's discussion in the Skeptics and Women thread where a whole bunch of straight cis guys are talking about privilege and feminism and sound like the awesomest allies on the whole planet. this places makes me really proud to be a member. Hey, how did it get so dusty in here?

Lum deserves an award for creating and hosting the best forum on the Internet. That's no small feat. Every member should get an award too just for being awesome in general.

Why can't the rest of the Internet be like this site?
  22. Lizzy Despondent Fancybear

Well, not every member... (have you visited Santorum yet?)
Elyscape, Alligator and Randissimo like this.
  23. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

I have, numerous times. I think my tolerance level has been bludgeoned beyond recognizability at this point, though, and, well, it's Santorum. If you pretend that forum doesn't exist, the rest of BF is more or less purely fantastic, with the occasional bouts of rage and hate between members who can't stand each other.

... I may have to reassess the way I analyse things on the Internet, again.

Compare Santorum to P&R on, say, QT3. You'll be begging for Santorum after that.

I avoid Santorum, but my understanding was that it was pretty much "Brett versus everyone else". Or, at least, it made me laugh to think of it that way.
    Sugar-Junkie and Jacquelle like this.
  27. Lizzy Despondent Fancybear

Let me state for the record that I was NOT in any way referring to or singling out Brett.

Edit: Not trying to imply that any one was saying this, but I figured it would be a good thing to get out in the world.
    Elyscape and Randissimo like this.
  28. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

Considering the fact sometimes Brett didn't actually post anything worth attacking, he got jumped on quite a bit.

But let us move on from that.

I actually don't mind the Santorum forum. It's there for a reason and it fulfills its purpose perfectly, and even then, it's STILL more civil than most of the Internet.
  29. Lizzy Despondent Fancybear

A lot of people have a history with Brett that goes back to before you and I were able to say "internet forum", so I'm hesitant to give any judgement about that. I just really wasn't making that joke about Brett and wanted to make that clear. But you're right. Let us not speak of those things.

I wasn't trying to be mean about Brett. I kind of like the guy when he's not talking about politics, and he's been very supportive to everyone in the depression threads, IMO. Sorry Brett, was just making a joke.

Things I like about being broken: being able to see more to a conservative Internet person than just their politics, because the forum doesn't encourage one-dimensionality.
Elyscape, Randissimo and Anabanana like this.
  33. Lum Fatbird

For those not obsessively following drama; for everyone's good Brett no longer has access to post either in Santorum or in this forum, so please do not discuss him (positively or negatively) where he cannot respond. Thanks.
