I take issue with "plant," but move some Str, Dex, and Con into Int and Cha and that's a reasonably fair description.

I am kind of amazed how much less pissy I am as I get older.

I am kind of amazed at how much more I want to punch people in the face as I get older. Mostly because politics, bigotry, racism, youtube comments, FOX News, MRAs, job insecurity, my grandfather-in-law, and what Michael Bay did to Transformers.

All these things I was blissfully unaware of when I was younger.

Just a random thought: Lum, would you get mad if I made an alt along the lines of "784 people like this"? You can see where I'm going here.

I believe Your Mom was banned for that reason.

I like how dumb jokes revolving around sockpuppet accounts with oh-so-clever names get fatbirded down quickly here on BF.

I like the verb "fatbirding".

Fatbirding: The act of being a competent forum moderator.

I like that better.

Both are accurate and beautiful things.

Seriously, this forum has spoiled me, I'm now holding every other site I'm on to the same standard and it just doesn't work.

Seriously, this forum made me come out of the internet woodwork and actually post about things. It's nice, I like it. :)

I would like to state that after many years on the internet I think this is one of the grander spots on it. I rarely have to edit my own opinion here. The edits I do have are usually the sort of cut out the bad language , or at least find a means to tone it down.

I don't -feel- bad about being shouted down here when it occurs. I know that people have other opinions but I am not a minority, some folks do appreciate my viewpoint and thus I can be part of the discussions going on. Elsewhere I always felt as if I was slowly being pushed outside, if only because I am a bit of a nutcase.

All I have ever really asked for , once I understood myself, was a place for civil discussions of games and whatever else. This has provided. Thank you Lum for letting it grow, and thank everyone else for participating.

So I was browsing and found an old comment on Umazes's profile I made back in early November before the chasm between the Grognards and LPers started closing up:

This was only about three months ago. I am baffled and amazed at how much confidence I've gotten in talking to you folk outside of the LP Forum since then. I'm surprised I was so nervous and scared to post outside of the LP forum in the first place. I feel so very at home here, now, and I go ahead and like and comment on threads within the other forums that, before the Kawaii thread was made, I wouldn't even have dared to do because I just... Didn't really have confidence in myself.

I had this whole "Oh God I am obnoxious and a pain in the ass and the epitome of irritating and annoying" mindset going on (that's still very much going on but not as much as before), so to avoid stepping on toes (which I figured was what I would end up doing if I tried chiming in on other threads that weren't LP related) I figured quarantining myself to the LP would solve everything, because yay, I'm not annoying anyone that way!

But then the Kawaii thread was made and then I finally started actually trying to participate in the other forums, and lo and behold, I realized I was missing out on a lot and that the Grognards were all secretly tsundere like-farmers fond of likes and, well, so far no one's called me out on my stupidity yet, so I figure I'm doing something right when it comes to posting my generally uneducated opinion on things.

Just three months ago and I wouldn't even have dared to make too many jokes with you guys due to irrational panic and fear and social anxiety.

TL;DR: You guys are awesome at making someone feel welcomed in a community.

This is the thing. If nobody's trying to make a big deal of the Divide Between The Forums(TM), then people are just people.

Nobody should particularly care whether you've been like-farming in the kawaii mines or whether you're just coming in fresh from the wilder reaches of the internet and have never posted on BF before, and I think in general people don't.

When new-to-me faces show up, I don't really spend any time thinking about where they came from, and can't really figure out why anyone else would bother to.

I mean, really, I spend a lot of my time carefully painting tiny plastic toy soldiers. On what grounds do I stand if I try to give someone else shit about their hobbies?
