People never complain on other forums! (It's crazy) Whereas I do not like the Dark Souls forum despite using it and likely posting a lot in it hrewhrewhrew I do like the new structure because I am OCD and structure pleases me in a way my Paxil prescription could never.
Message boards are weird. There must be a way of doing this kind of thing that isn't reliant on so much admin-level sorting and categorising.
Did I read somewhere that in the LP forum, you can turn off the categories you don't care to read and only see the categories you do care to read? If this is true, how? Or maybe I just dreamed it. I want a non-dating LP subforum.
I remember reading that the categorization had been turned off for the creation of new threads, but I don't recall anything about filtering.
I know there are filters if you click on a prefix, but I don't know how to change it so that it shows every category except dating games.
If you click on one of the labels, it shows only threads with that label. I don't think there's a way to filter out one or more particular labels.

After a day of using this I love it much more than prior method. Verdict: keep it. Adding more subforums would be great - I still think some of the forums feel cluttered, Entertaining Diversions would be an example, with movies, books, music, all jumbled together - but apparently it burns some people like elven rope.
I completely disagree. My favorite part of BF is the fact that TV/Movies/Books/Music are not separate forums. That was one of my bigger annoyances with QT3.
One nice consequence about having one general place for all 'other entertainment' is that there's less chance of something getting excluded. Some forums just don't have any discussion of comics, for example, because the forum's movies/music/games division doesn't have a place they would fit in.
Another hidden benefit of breaking out to lots of subforums is it makes it easier for Lum to delegate moderation once it all just becomes too much, which it does for every forum administrator in the history of the Intertubes.
In that case, let me just start using the What's New feature exclusively! I posted why I thought the new subforum could become an organizational issue. The response I got back was to just use the What's New feature. An option, maybe but it still doesn't solve the organizational issue. My brain-dead response. I was trying to say using the What's New feature should be the only "proper" way to access the forums. Fuck using brains. Seriously.
I see. You are aware that What's New includes new posts to old threads, yes? I don't use it, but it's not like it limits you to new threads.
Ooo Oo Oo can I moderate the tech forum? It'll be my first godly power since I had cosysop privileges on a WWIV BBS long, long ago. That, and my unconstitutional 2-year reign as President of the High School Computer Club. You just forget to hold elections and make sure Chopper Commando works, and no one minds you being a dictator! In conclusion, I am perfect to moderate the tech forum. Because, you know, of the threads, and all the people accidentally posting there.

We need an Android vs. iOS subforum and mkozlows and me should moderate it on alternating days... (PS I find it so difficult to remember the order of m's and z's in your name, that I'm often contemplating just writing Mr Mxyzptlk instead...)

Seriously: I'm unable to understand what the problem is that we're solving by adding more forums. Can anyone enlighten me? And "why not?" or "why do you care?" is not an argument.
Why not? Why do you care? No seriously, why the hell does it bother you that some people who play a game have a subforum for that game? Because there's one whole extra link in the list of game forums now? Cry me a fucking river.
