Somehow the DNS entries for my work domain got all messed up at Network Solution. This sort of thing is not my forte, but I seem to have gotten everything back to normal for VPN, FTP, etc. However, there are two things I'm having trouble with, and I'm wondering if anyone can place me on the right path. I can't get OWA to show up outside the network, and when I sent an email from my Gmail account on my phone to my work account, it doesn't go through. If I log into Gmail on my work machine, and send an email to my work account, it comes in fine. Help? Thanks!
DNS entries can take up to 48 hours to propagate, so it could just be that it hasn't caught up to the fix everywhere yet. For OWA, what do you get when you do an nslookup on the site externally?
One other step is to make sure that your MX records are still properly set up; it could even be that your MX records are also screwed up and that the people able to send to you externally are still working off of their old cached DNS info and haven't picked up the wrong info yet! (Depending on timeframe.) EDIT: A couple useful troubleshooting tools: http://mxtoolbox.com/ http://www.kloth.net/services/nslookup.php
Also, what version of Exchange? And is it a single server (there are some moving parts that need to be in the correct order in 2007 and 2010 if you have multiple servers)?
Thanks for the responses, guys. I believe I got OWA working again, so my only concern now is whether or not the outside email is reliably coming in. It's Exchange 2007, and I updated the MX records through Network Solutions yesterday afternoon. It's possible they're still propagating or that I did something wrong. Just a single server.
