We're stuck in an Art Gallery and the paintings came to life! Let's play Ib

I stumbled upon this game purely by chance. I happened to see some really good fanart, got curious and decided to try it out. I had to do some digging through the internet to find an english translation of this game, but I found it!

The premise of this game is that Ib, our main character, is nine years old and goes to the art gallery with her parents. Then things get weird.

This is supposed to be a horror game ... I'm not very good with horror games.

Oh yeah, that looks legit.

We're first treated to a black screen with some dialogue (sorry, didn't screenshot that part)

In the early afternoon, under a gray sky ...
Ib and her parents were on their way to an art gallery
"Did you remember everything, Ib?
"Oh! Do you have your handkerchief? You know, the one you got for your birthday?"
"Keep it safe in your pocket, okay? Don't lose it!"


Meet Ib's mom.



I think it's good that they're taking their kid to an art gallery. Really. It's a great experience.

I don't know about you, but this seems like a bad idea. This is a horror game after all, and we all know that you never go anywhere alone.

So, we get to take control and Ib goes around and looks at the paintings ad I notice something.







Ib can't read some of the painting titles. While this seems a little odd for a 9 year old in an English speaking country, it's not so unusual for kids to not know some kanji at that age and when you inspect the paintings it even says "You can't read some of the words ..." It's like how I am whenever I play Japanese games :D


Oh hey ... that purple hair ... You're the one I saw all that sexy fanart of. Too bad I'm 9 years old. And too bad this is a horror game :( It'd ever end well.

So, this seems to be the last painting in the gallery. It's another one of those whose title I can't completely comprehend. Something odd happens when I inspect the painting though. The lights started flickering. I go and look around the gallery and suddenly, it's empty.

I go down to the bottom floor and the lights go out. I start freaking out because there's no music, but footsteps.

There's footsteps, and the lights just went out.


But I can hear footsteps ;-;

I ... uh .... apparently I fell into a painting (at least the footstep "music" stopped, but it's been replaced with ominous sounding music instead)

And this door that looks like the only way forward is locked. what the fuck. I'm not smart, you realize I'm going to be stuck on these forever, right?

So I go back to where I got the flower and I realized, the table it was on can be moved. YAY! I completed a puzzle without help! Intelligence +0.1

The door is unlocked too so I can just go right in

And lookie here! Looks like a key and I bet it unlocks that other door. But ... what are paintings doing ... in paintings? Anyways ... let's just grab that key and

I think someone's mad that I took the key. The letters are all red, and red usually means anger. Then why'd you tell me to come here?

So, I got stuck here .... There's a green door I went through, but there's a hole in the floor I can't cross and the paintings don't seem to give me any clue.

So, I talked to the little moving dot on the ground, and it's a talking ant. He tells me that there's a painting of him he wants to see, but it's so far away. Oh hey there was an ant painting near the locked door, wasn't there? Interacting with it reveals that I can remove it so I do so and go back to the ant.





Okay, talking with the ant did nothing. The door is still locked. Let's go back and see if we can do anything about that hole.


Yay! We can do something!

I totally started this LP at a bad time, because this is my last week of projects and everything's due by Friday ;-; I'll update when I can (because I really want to play~ and meet Garry~)

Hopefully I can squeeze one out on Wednesday (since one project will be gone by then ... ah but I have two papers due on thursday ........ and my research paper is due on thursday too .... oh and those discussion essays are due on friday .....)

Well, there will be an update some time in the coming week. Count on it! Gawd I hate end of semester.
