    Do you own CK2?

Because if so I'll excuse your dodging the meetup this saturday if you make time to play it.

I've become hopelessly hooked on Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, to the point where I read the Mass Effect Wiki and Bioware forums for tips. I have not, however, succumbed to the temptation of spending real money for virtual gear. Yet.

I keep meaning to try Hotline Miami but then playing Mark of the Ninja instead. I think I'm almost done with that, though.

Planetside 2 is currently monopolizing my gaming time. It will probably hold my attention as long as I have friends actively playing.

I finally finished AC: Rev. It turns out I had about an hour left when I stopped playing it over a month ago. So I finished Ezio and watched the credits, then they plopped me back on the island, so I did all the Desmond missions.

Really, who on the dev team thought those missions were fun? C'mon, people! That was crap.

Then went back into Ezio for some cheevo farming. I have 92 of the goddamn collectible thingies and I guess I missed the other 8 on other maps or something. So write that one off.

I found all the bomb tutorial missions that I never noticed before. Those are fun.

And I'm working toward taking over the Mediterranean with all my proteges. That's not particularly fun, but I'm close, only two cities to go.

So today was spent farting around in AC: Rev.

Oh, and what were the revelations?

Episode 2 of The Walking Dead. You're right, Elyscape, worth the purchase.

Though I wish Telltale would get on top of their shit. You still don't have an official fix for ignoring players' preferences? Oh, Telltale.

AC3 is the game for today, but I think I'll go back to Mass Effect 2 tomorrow. A lot of these restrictions/optional objectives are complete crap, and I've replayed sequences several times before giving up on a full synch.

Also, goddamnit Ubisoft, you change peoples' faces every game. I liked Shaun's character design before.

I received Spec Ops: The Line as a gift (thanks Shmtur!) and I really enjoy it so far. I don't play many shooters anymore because I am shit at MP and this is a nice change of pace.

Right now I am in one of those 'What do I play next and hope my attention span holds up for?' phases. I'm playing some Star Wars The Old Republic with MrPants and have found it strangely charming. Yes, it's a fairly conventional MMO but the abilities you get are entertaining and all the voice acting the first time through really does elevate the experience for me. Plus I'm playing my imperial agent all wrong, so I'm curious to find out where that goes (no spoilers, please!) And I need to get back to LOTRO at some point. HalibutBarn and I were duoing a warden and hunter when I got sidetracked with a new job and NaNoWriMo. He's probably soloed Sauron by now.

For single player Rapunzel (my Secret Santa) gifted me Bastion and Skyrim. I may tackle Bastion first as it is theoretically something I can finish. But I also want to muck around in the world of Skyrim because I loves me some exploring. That way lies not madness but countless hours of bumbling through the wilderness while the rest of my backlog lay abandoned.

I have also been the recipient of gifts from Natus, Elyscape and Talisker, as well. What I really need is a clone to help me out.

So my desire to give the FAQ writers (okay....maybe just penguin_knight) time to finish a perfect links guide for Persona 4 Golden finally gave way to my competing desire to do anything worthwhile with my Vita and I downloaded Persona 3 Portable. You know what? There's actually a pretty fair amount of stuff that got changed for the female lead. I don't yet feel like I'm wasting my life doing this. Granted, the point-and-click-ification of the non-combat world is a little irritating (I may not have given the original enough credit for how much of an effect making you walk around through all those worthless environments has for attaching you to the world), but otherwise it still seems to hold up pretty well, with enough original stuff to not feel like the stupidest thing. Plus, I'm assuming that this doesn't come with the whole after-campaign that comes with FES, so the ending will presumably just be vague instead of definite and shitty (note to writers - if you're going to have a character die, you should probably do it on camera).

Noooo kidding. But what about poor Desmond?!? He maybe wasn't the hottest guy in games previously, but at least he looked more human than equine. I don't know why they did what they did to his forehead and face but goddamn. Not to mention that he's slouching and weirdly proportioned and so on, now. This is supposedly the best that a millenia of Assassins can provide, a slouchy horse-faced douchebag in a white hoodie. Bad. Bad bad bad.

I'm bouncing wildly between Borderlands 2 (new DLC! and alt-itis), World of Tanks (still going strong as my fall back game when bored), and Skyrim. With random bouts of Space Pirates and Zombies, and Wargame.

I should really get this ADD checked out.

I've tried Bastion using the WASD control scheme (modified to my usual ESDF) and it's not working that well for me. For anyone who's played it on PC, which controls worked best? I do have a wired controller available if need be.

Can't stop playing Dark Souls! Or more accurately; I can't stop rerolling in Dark Souls! Every time I learn something new, and I like the process of coming up with different character builds in games anyway, so it's all good.

I own it, and thus far I have not been able to make sense of CK2. I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point - I do play Dwarf Fortress, after all - but for the time being I'm totally mystified and thus my attention wanders. Lately to Dark Souls, which is absolutely as awesome as it's made out to be.

Interestingly, both of them have middling-to-poor game play but the stories they tell are definitely worth experiencing.

Also, they have great and wholly appropriate soundtracks.

Mass Effect 3 replay number three or four. Sadly, I forgot to bring Javik to Thessia (read somewhere he has interesting things to say on that mission) and I finally caved and healed my scars because Shepard is starting to frighten children. Or rather, she would if there were any children. Regardless, I still feel like I sold out and frankly I don't know how my renegade Shepard tolerates me.

I've also been poking around in Far Cry 3 and Saints Row 3, so it's wall-to-wall awesome as far as my gaming is concerned.

I've been playing Persona 3 Portable all week because I've been traveling. I know there are all sorts of recipes for Personae, and I should go to such and such a place on the afternoon of May 14th to get the awesome stuff, but I'm just muddling through and seeing what happens.

I'm in the second batch of floors and I'm just finding that I need to combine personae to progress. I was going through a night with Junpei and the two of us would be doing fine, then get our asses kicked when we'd fight these floating pope squid things that use lightning. Because Junpei is weak to lightning, they'd get extra attacks and we'd die if there were more than two of them. On the other hand, if I got the jump on them I know they're weak to fire, so I'd just mow through them and they'd never get a chance to attack.

I combined some personae and went from a 10th level Forneus as my main guy to a 15th level... something that just kicked everything's ass. Now I'm picking up more personae and actually filling up all 10 of my slots, so I go and make higher level guys. The other big thing I didn't know was that I should register them, so I can just buy copies once I use them to combine into other guys. That's how I kept my Forneus after I used him to make someone else.

Hot damn, I've been making some serious headway in my backlog. I just now finished Uncharted 3. I liked it, but I don't think it was as good as 2 and I'm glad that Naughty Dog has put the series to rest. The gunplay isn't fun (I turned it to the easiest difficulty to make it less tedious) and while the puzzles are often cool, they often amounted to the same routine of climbing and pressing triangle to throw switches. I'm really looking forward to The Last of Us to see what else they can do.

That said, holy balls Uncharted was cinematic if any game ever was. I'm amazed by the sheer amount of labor that must have gone in to creating those environments. Everything was super detailed and I kept finding myself running through halls and thinking that someone must have worked days on just that little scrap of the game world and most people just blow by it without looking. And man, that cruise ship level was AWESOME. It's definitely going on my list of best game levels evar.

So, up next will be The Witcher 2 for my PC gaming time and ...something for the console. I have Halo 4 here, so that would be nice to play as a newer game. Or I could try to burn through The Darkness 2 before it gets much more stale. And then again, I also have Dark Souls here, but I'm almost afraid to start that while my backlog is as big as it is...

I think I'm nearly done with Spec Ops: The Line. Been enjoying the hell out of it. The gameplay is nothing special, but I think it's pretty solid. Though this is one of the few times I'm missing surround sound. Playing this with earphones in just means I have no idea where the living bad guys are, cos it sounds like they're all around me. Still, it's been a great experience so far, and the haboobs are pretty amazing.

    amazing haboobs

    lol

I'll probably start up on Sleepy Dawgz next, though I have a feeling that's going to be a much longer game. I should probably finish ME3 at some point, too.

On the Bombcast a while back they mentioned a great podcast that had an interview with the people behind Spec Ops where they talked about making the game. Anyone know what that is? I'd be interested in listening to it when I'm done.

I finished up my latest ME3 playthrough and watched all four available endings via a little autosave cheese. I'd never heard the true voice of the Catalyst before so that was cool and a little disturbing.

Now I'll try to resist the urge to start over from the original because I have Far Cry 3, Assassin's Creed 3, Dark Souls and, well, I could go on all day. Suffice to say, there is much gaming to be done and not nearly enough free time in which to do it.
