I'm surprised she's not... bleeding.
The sprite before she got her eyes back looks like she's just wearing eye patches with no strings attached.
Yeah, looking back at it is seems like the author took the sprite with her eyes and covered them with black using paint XD
To be fair I don't think anyone would've wanted a more realistic rendition of an eyeless girl.
Either way, we got another happy zombie! Good job!
So thanks to the lever in the eyeless girl's cell I was able to open the giant door.
So there's still another floor.
Yeah rigth O___o What the hell happened? Why I got out from the entrance? I try again but the same thing happens, until I notice something...
Yeah, because she would like to help the man that probably did something terrible to her.
AAAAnd... she start following me °___°
Do you want to go home? She nods.
Do you want to go out? She nods.
There were some creepy sounds coming from the door °____° I guess we'll have to take the longer road...
So I try to go back to where I found her but when I cross the door the screen changes...
W-Wait that? What the hell is happening? Did I switch place with the zombie? O_o
I don't know! I'm confused as you are O_o AndI can move as the woman. The upper door is locked, so I try to go down...
Oh wait, is this a memory then?
Now, shall we begin?
This music starts playing (I want to give you the atmosphere!):
The camera closes up on Father °___°
But... but.. I was going to help her! That's not fair ç_____ç I'm so sad for her now...
You know what, I really fucking hate Father by now, he's a monster and I don't want to save him >___> If this game has multiple endings, I hope there's a choice to actually save father or not in the end, because the first ending I'd get would be the second scenario >___>
Aya is really really brave, if it was me, I would just hide under bunch of blankets rocking back and forth till I fall asleep.
I kind of like all these zombies that we help, can we just, i don't know, have a party with them or something?
"Let me have those beautiful hands"...
"He took my eyes"...
What are you making, Father?
Is it a playmate? Is it a beautiful new Mother?
What is it you're creating?
Man, and I just watched Bride of the Reanimator yesterday, too. If you're gonna bring a loved one back to life, you shouldn't frankenstein her body -- just use the one she has! Otherwise it really won't end well!
... Honestly though, what IS he doing? One moment he's testing out mixtures, the next he's collecting body parts? Make up your mind, dear Father~ Waste not, want not, you can use the old subjects to get body parts~
(Note: Father's chainsaw is blue, the one we found was red. Maybe the red one was a gift he planned to give Aya when she got older or something, haha~)
It's weird, really. I wasn't very sympathetic to the protagonist at the beginning, because much as she's a Little Girl, she's not, like, five years old. She knows that her father has been doing horrible things to people in the basement for years and years and years, and her response is pretty much "Oh well, he's my daddy! <3" to all that. Understandable, but not very sympathetic.
But now, when she's actually being confronted with the specifics of all this, and she's reacting with actual horror? Sympathy is definitely returning. It's a really well done (if not very subtle, but that's fine, horror games don't tend towards subtlety) playing out of the whole concept that one can sort of shrug off abstract horrible things a lot more easily if not forced to confront the details. And how even someone who is callously doing so can get some damn empathy back once they're forced to think about it in depth.
I keep hoping that if you complete all these MAKE THE ZOMBIES HAPPY sidequests at the end there will be some epic moment where they all come back to defend you and you will have a zombie army.
Make it so game, make it so...
So, I finally descend thr steps to the second basement floor...
FUCK YOU! I actually jumped when I bumped into him in this almost total darkness. So he's pointing right?
Yup, this is my finding a secret passage where the man was pointing.
Oh, a secret laboratory!
So, I decide to examine the shelves on the top right and...
Wait a minute... a lot of identical white rabbits... and the flashback about Snowball in which he was hurt and father gave her back snowball "healed"...
Yeah let's check something else...
This man really doesn't have any other hobby..
There's a door above, but I want to check the other doors on the dark passage first...
So there's also a toilet with urinals in the basement! Please don't be like in Silent Hill ç__ç
I'm knda curious about how the key ended up there... anyway, I'll try to take it.
SERIOUSLY? You met countless abomination at this point, but you're too grossed out to pick a key from a toilet bowl?? Oh come on...
Why am I picturing her finding a dismembered arm and saying "Wow! With this it won't be gross to take the key from the toilet!"
There's no floor up here, uh...
What? Poor old man... punished because he gave me indications? ç__ç
Uh, I want to take it with me, why the game won't let me take it? :(
Anyway, there's also a locked door here, I guess I need the key in the toilet, sigh.. let's go back to the door that was in the laboratory.
Is that an orc?
I freed him with my chainsaw and I could hear a lot of crashing sounds in the next room.
He sure was angry.
Why would you perfectly preserve Snowball's many corpses?
For that matter, how would she never notice Snowball acting differently? I call bullshit on that one. If you have a bunny and switch to another one, it's going to act differently enough to be noticable, unless he took a whole litter of bunnies with the same likes and dislikes and personality and looks and age and had them all sleep in a pile of Aya's clothes.
No, this is just Father's bunny experiments which happen to include a bunny with a fairly minor leg wound..
And apparently he made an orc in his spare time. Father, what are you even doing.
I dunno, I get the impression that, for Aya, not noticing anything that might set off red flags, or not thinking about the things that do, was a pretty big part of her coping strategy. I could totally see her noticing something off about 'healed' Snowball, and immediately going, "Nopenopenope. Nothing's wrong. Nothing Is Wrong. My Daddy healed my rabbit and that's all there is to it. C'mon, Snowball, One True Snowball, let's go play!"
Poor Aya. She just wants to save her father. Sure, I think we can all agree that he isn't a very good guy but when has he ever been unkind to Aya? You don't get to choose your parents and you most certainly don't get to choose your parents' faults.
I'm going to have mixed feelings no matter the ending. If Aya successfully saves her father, I'll be upset that he got away with doing horrible things. If Aya does not save her father, I'll feel bad that Aya lost another parent.
Well, I wonder if the father cloned the rabbits, but after seeing the jar with the rabbit that has an injured leg I can be sure that he changed Snowball with an identical rabbit from time to time. And probably Aya realized that when she looked at the jar, at least in an inconscious level...
If ever Aya survives this experience, I think she'll grow up to be a fucked up person.
Is a nightcap a pajama hat or a bit of drink?
Well what i found on the floor looked like a cap... you know, when I found it I was sure it was of the old man pointing the drection to me, but now that I check again i notice that he wasn't wearing a hat O_o I really wonder who is the owner of the hat now °°
Oh how mysterious.
While I prepare the next update, I want to present this to you without context.
Ah-ah! What would you think I'd find? (Although I'd like to know where she was keeping this key exactly)
WHAT THE FUCK I wasn't expecting a zombie here and it actually make me jump!
He went to the left as if he wanted me to follow him... well let's go then!
And what a surprise, the key we found under Maria's skirt fits into this door!
Well, it's not a very fancy room O_o not even a window.
Oooooh, I want to read it~
So she actually was a girl from the street
Ugh what a fucking asshole, I hate him so much >___>
Don't do it! Don't trust the creepy man! (Why am I even yelling at a memory?)
See? This is what happens when you trust strangers on the street!
Now I'm confused, why would he do that? He lets the family know all his test subjects? O_o
So all this happened 4 years ago...
"Look Aya, I found a new friend for you! Just don't make her tired, I need to dissect her later!"
The doctor goes away and finally Maria notice her cell companion (it's the same guy who guided to her room)
She notices he's hurt all over.
She basically remains naked to make bandages for the poor guy.
The next day...
He asks her if she treated him and she says yes.
So basically she's even better than you with medical stuff, some doctor you are. Or you really didn't care for this guy to die, you asshole?
Father asks the girl what's her name. She hesitate for a while, then...
Is this a biblical reference? The women who treated Christ after crucifixion where all called Maria/Mary if I'm right...
So this is how all began...
I was so happy... So happy you saved me. I was alone, but you made me needed. You gave me love. As long as I am needed, I will stay with you. How wuld I live without you... I love you doctor...
I kinda feel sad for Maria too, now... she's not exaclty bad, she just has this twisted love for the man who wanted to do so many horrible things to her...
I'm really wishing for an ending now where Aya and Maria say "fuck you!" to Father and go live happily ever after someplace together as a family.
I think Father's attention span/mental stability is totally shot.
"I'm gonna test serums! No wait I'm gonna build a frankenstein! NO WAIT LET ME MAKE AN ORC!"
"Ooh, new test subject! Here come with me - you can stay with the obviously dying person! I'm gonna go tell my wife and child you're here, I bet they'd love you! :D"
"I love my daughter so much, I'm going to clone her pet bunny a thousand times and kill it every time it gets even a bit hurt somehow and then give her a new one! And I'm gonna get her a chainsaw that matches mine but she can't play with it yet since she might get hurt..."
It's like "ooh shiny", except the shiny things are all horrible.
I also like that he took special care to put her in the cell with the dying dude when there's an empty cell next door. What the hell, Father?
Same wish for the ending.
The Father live together 'happily' with her mother in the mansion while Aya and Maria escapes alone together. With Maria comes into senses that Father is really just took her for his own advantage and really is (as many as you have said it) a complete asshole. Yay!
Woah you're right, I didn't even notice that O_o Looks like he really wanted her to have "company" O_o
Father is a very good host you know. He wants to make sure you're not lonely and possibly give you spoilers to what may happen next to you, before introducing you to the family and then killing you for your legs <3
You know, I think this whole thing about Maria's past was optional, and I have the feel that seeing or not seeing this makes the difference with the ending. To be sure I kept playing saving in another slot, so I can see different outcomes.
Anyway, it appears there's more about Maria's diary:
Is she talking about the yung blonde boy with the empty eyesocket we saw at the beginning of the game? I wonder what's happened to him, we haven't seen him since.
Anyway, I got stuck and wandered aimelessly until I noticed that there was a box in the secret laboratory that I could smash.
Finally! Now I can get the key in that goddamn toilet.
OH COME ON, STOP BEING SO WUSSY. I had to wash it the bucket filled of water nearby...
OMG THERE WAS A HAND COMING FROM THE BROKEN PAVEMENT SECTION, sorry if I haven't got the screenshot at the right time but it surprised me ç___ç
Oh this is the jail we saw in Maria's memory.
He ran and bumped into the bars when I got near °___°
In the upper left cell there's a hole, let's explore it...
ARGH I barely see it but I'm already scared ç_ç
So this became Metal Gear Solid now.
Ah! I'm good at this kind of thing.
Or so I thought...
Urgh I hate dolls they are already scary by themselves, but this also go around with knives ç___ç
This is the third screen with these dolls, when all this will finally ends? ç___ç
Urgh, I did it.
So now I have to go back? Oh no...
Hey, they're not moving now.
Ah, serves you well! *kicks doll*
With the jail key I freed the guy that went away without even thanking me :/ But he left a gem. I got 17/21 gem, I guess I kinda near the end of the game.
Dramatic interruption! What our heroine will find in the next door??
Curse your dramatic interruption! Now I must wait in anticipation. (No Heinz Ketchup song, get out of my head D<)
Ahaha, I had study for an exam I had today, now I'm totally free to update this LP!
So after the shrine... there's a cafeteria? It looks like a nice place considering that people were kept prisoners here.
Ugh, I hope it's from some animal...
OK, I won't disturb it then °_°
WHAT? The pot just shattered to pieces, what happening? °__°
*smash Z button*
Aya loses consciousness, the screen goes black but we can hear some footsteps.
Uh, are you...?
Oh it's you! It's... much easier to look at you with the bandages, I must admit.
It's ok, you seem a nice person <3
YEAH I WONDER WHY
I'll go anywhere with you <3
Some of these corpses will try to bring you into death as well! If you stay here, they will take away your life!
And then a knife gets thrown at him °____°
MARIA, WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO THE BOY???? ç_____ç
Is he dead too??? ç_____ç
So please, mistress, you must flee somewhere safe.
WTF she even stomped on the poor guy corpse!!! What the hell Maria????
And what lies ahead, well... I know it must be difficult. I shall go ahead alone.
I guess she's talking about mother.
Milady... you shall not do as you please. I shall settle this....
And so she goes to forward to the cafeteria leaving us alone. And of course we're going after her!
Sigh sob... Maria, I felt bad for you knowing your story, but I can't forgive what you've done to this poor boy ç____ç
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE.
NOW I'LL HATE YOU FOREVER.
... Hey, now that he doesn't have a giant eyehole to distract us with... Is that a burn down the side of his face? I wonder if this kid was a thief who broke into the wrong place or something, because I can't think of any experiment involving that aside from "let's see how a burn wound to the face heals".
... then again, considering the dying dude from the flashback, maybe he actually did research the healing and escalation of wounds at some point.
Justifying things would be easier if you could keep yourself to one thing, Father.
... Man, that kid didn't last long. He seemed... Kinda like he'd have a bigger role in this!
It's hard to be upset at Maria though. She probably mistook him for a normal let's-murder-Aya zombie - he WAS pulling at her arm and she was visibly unwilling to go with him, you wouldn't assume he was trying to rescue her.
... By the way what IS that room? A chapel? What is a chapel doing in the basement?
How do you solve a problem like Maria?
Good questions. Maybe Maria mistook the boy for another killer zombie, or maybe she didn't want him to talk, who knows... and yeah it seemes he ad a bigger role in this. Since he never even told us his name, I'll name him Charles :(
I also think that is weird to see a chapel there, especially so much near the prison where the doctor kept his "test subjects"...
So, let's go after Maria!
It looks like we have a new guest in the cafeteria.
Yeah, cutting meat with a chainsaw is so cool!
Man, this zombies are picky! What did you take me for, your personal maid??
My father is probably going to get murdered by my mother's ghost in a matter of second, and I'm here cooking a meal for a zombie.
Ok, now I'm confused, there was an error in the translation of the previous sentence, or he really ate... I don't wanna know.
Why would she bring food from above if there's a kitchen here? ... Whatever.
I was always unwanted.
Aww that's a sad story :( But hey, Father used you for experiments I guess, so you were wanted by someone at least!
He's kinda cute :°
This could almost be the beginning of a romance!
But sadly he disappeared leaving only his napkin :(
It's as if the people are not really corporeal since they can just disappear like that.
Yeah the game is not very consistent, some of them walk away (like the guy that was in jail), other just disappear like ghosts, it makes you question how much they are corporeal.
Wait, so... there are zombies as ghosts?
ghost zombie ninja pirate zobot
It does make sense, though.
Our little one-eyed boy just gave us the answer.
We know from earlier that it's a curse, Father didn't accidentally create a local zombie apocalypse. The zombies are part of the curse, meaning that yep! They're all ghosts.
As for why some vanish and others don't?
One-eye told us that because of their hatred for Father, they can't be saved.
All the ones that have disappeared are ones we've helped, no? So... The ones who vanish are the ones who, through our actions, are able to let go of their hate and thus be saved.
Until they can let go of their hatred, they will be corporeal and trapped in this building. It's not just Father who's cursed, but everyone in the house including the ghosts~
